Honestly the only thing bad about this hotel I found was the blind right hand turn exiting the hotel. It's a fast road and cars tend to fly around the corner and if you don't go fast enough they be on you in seconds. But other than that I loved staying here and will be back for sure! Friendliest staff I've ever seen in a hotel!

"Beautiful, Historic, Great Location"
The Park Place Hotel has been the couple's retreat location for my wife and I for years. We have always been pleased with the staff, hotel, and location. It is beautiful, historic, and right in the midst of downtown Traverse City. This makes it the ideal location for exploring the city on foot. However, we did have a few concerns this time (we were in TC for the Cherry Festival 2017). The sink in the room drained so slow that it almost didn't drain. A bigger issue was that we were left with only one partial roll of toilet paper by housekeeping (I ran out at an inconvenient time). A bigger issue is that they have started a new policy of giving you a parking permit to display in the window of your car that expires at noon on your check out day. The Park Place is not cheap. A major reason we have always been willing to pay the cost to stay there is the fact that we could leave our car in there lot and spend the day exploring the city on foot before leaving to go home. With this new policy, we had to take our car out and go through the major hassle of finding a parking space in town during the festival (no easy task). If the Park Place is going to make us take our car into town and find parking, we might as well stay further out and drive in and save money.

"Great Place!"
We loved our stay at Sugar Beach in June 2017. It was super clean and the staff was super nice and helpful with everything! They have a line you can text with questions, the front desk has everything you need, there's constantly cleaning people around if you need something (and I saw them scrubbing base boards! They paid attention to details!) One night it rained and we rented a DVD from the front desk to give us something to do - they had a nice selection. The room was newly renovated - we had a king and a sleeper sofa. It was very comfy, nice big TV, and even though we didn't have a room with a few, the beach was just a few steps away. Plenty of beach chairs available, and they have a watersports rental right there where we were able to enjoy some jetskis (extra fee though.)

"Nice Hotel and Close to Everything."
We enjoyed our stay but wish there had been more available outlets in the room and a light on the desk. Three women needed them for our electrical hair dryers, etc. and phones. The wifi wasn't very strong either. Otherwise, everything was fine. Breakfast was light but good and all we needed. We would come back again.

"Very clean for allowing pets"
I was very pleased with them allowing dogs and how clean the hotel was due to this. Awesome!! I did stay in the honeymoon suite and it was alright. The Jacuzzi definitely needed a remodel or some fixing up. Still nice to relax in though. Breakfast was so disappointing. No hot protein whatsoever. A lot of breads and cereal. Where's the meat?!? I wouldn't mind staying here again due to the fact of how I love that they allowed both of my dogs and to have it as clean as it was.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
