Staff was super - The hotel not so much.

Way overpriced for an outdated and well-worn facility that should be rated and priced as a low-budget motel. We were on the motorcycle all day and booked this based on the pictures, as we wanted a bit of comfort after a long day in the saddle. We could as well have booked one of the other motels in town and gotten the same 'value' for much less. We expected more from a Best Western.

This is a sweet motel in the heart of John Day. While it is an older design-it is a very pleasant place to stay in a rural part of Oregon. We found good food at the Outpost Pizza adjacent to the inn. It served delicious pizza. The bar tender was personable and made our dinner fun.

We have small dogs that like to bark. They didn't hear the neighbors doors close or people talking so they were quiet the whole time. The hotel was almost full so there were people around. Nice soundproofing. And its a very safe, we left and accidentally left the door not closed all the way. We were gone for HOURS and nothing was touched, everything as we left it.

John Day Best Western is the best. We've stayed here on many trips and will be back. Location is very convenient to walking to dinner. Quiet at night and good mattress.

The room was comfortable, with average furnishings. The complimentary breakfast was good. The things we didn't like were: Our room was on the 2nd floor with no elevator; we are 70+ years old and have some heavy suitcases, which made for a good workout. Also, the TV was not connected to the internet; we were hoping to watch our Netflix subscription.

Terrible experience.

Two of three staircases to the second floor were closed forcing us to walk all the way around the building with our luggage. Once in our room the bathroom was pretty dirty. Caulking over caulking looked sloppy. Only one pair of towels. The room faced east and the curtains were bare minimum efforts to keep the sun out. This was not a $250 per night experience. Breakfast in the morning was hard as a rock and looked like prison slop.

Refund

I was charged $237 for my room The guy that was travling with us got the same room for $110 and was given a box of donuts. When i asked the girl about it she said, oh well. We were traveling together and checked in toghether. We were on the same reservation. This makes no sense. I'm owed a refund.
