When booking I was not expecting much and this hotel failed to even deliver the basics. We checked in and was given a key, not a card, but a regular house key. Upon entering our ground floor room we were hit with a wall of heat. It was 11 degrees outside and about 30 inside. We tried the thermostat but that didn’t work as it was turned off. We went to open the window and found only one opened and that was missing a screen. Staff advised they control the heating and it’s one setting for the whole hotel. We were given a fan to help. We then noticed that our tv (Shaw box) did not work, no big deal we were just going to be sleeping there but then we noticed that the door, the only exit to our room had no other lock. There was a chain lock but was missing the end that actually secured it to door. I again brought this issue to the staff and was told she would come take a look at our issues. The woman did come and look at the tv, took the remote, checked the chain lock and said she’d be back to fix. After an hour, we had to leave for supper so went to the reception again. This time it was a different person. This person knew of the issues but said that the hotel was full so they couldn’t move us and that not all the doors have a second lock. They just don’t have time to fix them I was told. We did not stay the night. The heat was unbearable and the room was a safety hazard. Management and staff were professional although unhelpful this is why I am not giving 1 star. AVOID!
