"Beautiful, calm spot"
I was in Costa Rica for a conference in San José and arrived a few days early. Rather than staying in San José, I looked for a hotel about an hour from San José. Even though the hotel (really cabins) is an hour away from the airport, it is completely different. It is in the hills up a little paved road from the town of Grecia. The cabin was perfect with an incredible view of the Volcano (when there are few clouds) and tropical vegetation. Lots of humming birds near the back deck. This is a great place to relax, but it may be a bit far away if you are not looking to drive a lot. I enjoyed the farmers' market in Grecia.

"Excellent Stay!!!"
Recently I spent a week in Costa Rica in a town called Grecia. This was my second trip to Costa Rica this year and I had a wonderful time. I plan to move to Costa Rica after I retire so my trip was to look for housing as well as explore the Grecia and San Ramon areas. I rented a 4x4 and it was my first time driving in Costa Rica. I got lost on my way to the hotel so I called the hotel for assistance. Jeanetta (the owner of the hotel) answered the phone and gave me detailed instructions how to get to the hotel. When I continued to get lost (because of my inability to follow simple directions) she sent a car to come and direct me to the hotel. After arriving at the hotel, Jeanetta greeted me as if I was a long lost family member. She is so sweet and makes you feel right at home. The accommodations where clean and homey. Christina (the house keeper) was also amazing. Every morning she prepared breakfast with very fresh fruit and my choice of eggs, bacon, pork chops, potatoes and toast. A great way to start the day and the view was spectacular. Many mornings I enjoyed just sitting in the breakfast area talking it up with Jeanetta as she provided valuable information about living in Costa Rica as an Expat. Overall, I would highly recommend La Terraza to anyone looking to stay in a comfortable hotel outside of San Jose and in a quint little town.

"Convenient place just outside of San Jose"
We got into San Jose airport late at night, so we didn't want to have to drive too far our first night and didn't have any desire to go into San Jose. This hostel was approx 40 minutes drive from the airport. We were able to park our rental car in their gated driveway, which we appreciated. They were very friendly. There were 4 of us travelling together, so we stayed in a 4 bed dorm together, which consisted on 2 bunk beds. The beds were pretty uncomfortable, but we were only staying for 1 night, so it was bearable. The walls are also very thin, so you can hear all the traffic outside, as well as the church bell that seemed to ring all the time, for long periods of time, which seemed to go all night and day. The hostel was clean and very cute. There's a nice back yard relaxing area that is very pretty. We didn't get to use it because we went to sleep as soon as we checked in and got up early to check out to continue our journey up to LA Fortuna. Overall it was fine for a 1 niht stay, and the cheap nightly rate was appropriate. I would not recommend this place for long stays unless noise and uncomfortable beds don't bother you when you sleep.

"Nice hotel far from Grecia"
The hostel itself was beautiful with gardens and gorgeous grounds. The restaurant was good and they had a nice play area for the kids. The listing on Expedia was far from correct. It is 12 km outside of Grecia and you need a vehicle to stay there. The phone number was also wrong which was very challenging trying to find the place.

Grecia is calling — find the perfect hotel

Everyone wants to score a deal on travel, but price is just one factor to consider when booking an unforgettable hotel. Whether you’re visiting family, attending a conference or taking a well-earned vacation in Grecia, having an awesome experience should be a no-brainer.

Hotwire will hook you up! From restful nights near your flight to that prime spot in the city’s heart, we’ve done our research to bring the best options to your fingertips. Book your Grecia hotel with us now and start your next adventure.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
