"Airport oasis"
My husband and I stayed here on the last night of our 2 week vacation in Costa Rica. We wanted to avoid driving into San Jose before our flight home. We arrived at the hotel early but were able to check in without a problem. The grounds of the hotel were lovely and made you feel like you were in the jungle, not right next to the airport. Although you can hear planes flying overhead as with any airport hotel. We had dinner and breakfast at the hotel which was quite convenient but just okay in terms of quality. The gentleman working the front desk on the morning of our check out helped us arrange for the car rental company to come and pick up our car so we didn't have to do any stressful navigating on the day of our departure. He went above and beyond.

"Very nice hotel, close to airport!"
Hotel Robledal is a family-owned and operated hotel within just a few minutes of the San Jose airport (shuttle provided at not charge. Our room was large and very clean and had and modern heat pump, which, of course meant it had environmentally friendly air conditioning. There is also a nice pool to keep cool on a hot Costa Rican afternoon. We stayed here on our last night in Costa Rica because of the free shuttle, but owner/operator Victor and his sons Emanuel and Josua were wonderful hosts, allowing us to park our luggage well before check in time so that we could visit Zoo Ave (a wonderful attraction in Alajuela). We had a wonderful "last" dinner at the attached restaurant, and were provided a sack lunch with sandwich, fruit and juice for our early morning departure the next day. This was also gratis, due to the fact that we were forced by our early departure to miss the included free breakfast.

Everything was nice and clean. Staff were very friendly and eager to help. Breakfast was as expected and very good! The grounds, although a small hotel were beautiful and well kept. The shuttle wasn't at the airport when we arrived, but several people outside contacted the shuttle for us and took us there. We were pretty much under the flight path for the airport so, sometimes loud. All in all...great hotel which we were more than happy with and would recommend especially for the one night we were in San Jose!

Asclepios Wellness and Spa

El Cacao, Alajuela - Map
"Quiet resort hotel, good for relaxing"
Asclepios is a good get away with friendly staff, a pretty location, well maintained grounds. The spa services are reasonably priced (relative to the US) and the food is ok (although the menu is somewhat limited). The included breakfast is a fruit plate, bread (some good whole grain breads), and nice teas... if you're typically hungry in the mornings, they do offer an extended menu, but expect to pay extra for breakfast. Location wise, you should understand that this hotel isn't centrally located for most of the tourist stops... so if you want to head over to Poa (Volcano), Doka (Coffe), Downtown San Jose (Museums), etc... anticipate some expenses related to transportation (ask the front desk to call Milton - excellent taxi driver - tell em' Anthony and Silvia said hi). There really isn't much around the hotel in walking distance (this includes ATMs, Grocery stores, etc...)... so also plan accordingly. Our room was nice and spacious, with a pretty view, a water carafe w/ mint every day... overall pretty good. It should be noted that the walls are pretty thin and sound travels (though most people are pretty quiet). Our room (Weng Ching) had one oddity... the switch for the fan/ light, also operated the light in the adjacent room... which lead to a few late night surprises... part of the adventure.

Berlor Airport Inn

"Convenient location for start or end of a vacation"
Stayed two nights at Berlor Hotel in Alajuela, Costa Rica at the end of a two week trip. Three adults and one child in a clean, comfortable room with two comfortable queen size beds. Booking through Expedia was simple and conveniently charged in Canadian dollars. Check in was smooth. If I recall correctly (I could be mistaken), the hotel description said the room rate included breakfast so I was a bit surprised to find on check in that it did not. It's possible that the description meant to say that breakfast is available. The courtyard has a nice, small pool, but we didn't use it as the water was cold. It was cool to watch planes land as they flew quite low overhead. The noise was not a problem for us as few planes were arriving overnight. Overall a convenient, comfortable stay that was quite good for Costa Rican standards.

"Hotel shuttle"
Our flight was delayed which they knew about and we were late arriving but the shuttle stopped at 1:00 am. Getting from the airport to the hotel was a hassle --- taxis only wanted to do a longer trip and larger fare of course. We were not the only ones on the delayed flights just a hassle that was all. Everything else was very good.

Alajuela is calling — find the perfect hotel

Everyone wants to score a deal on travel, but price is just one factor to consider when booking an unforgettable hotel. Whether you’re visiting family, attending a conference or taking a well-earned vacation in Alajuela, having an awesome experience should be a no-brainer.

Hotwire will hook you up! From restful nights near your flight to that prime spot in the city’s heart, we’ve done our research to bring the best options to your fingertips. Book your Alajuela hotel with us now and start your next adventure.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
