Great place to stay. Safe and secure. Lovely lake to walk around and observe wildlife. Large well appointed rooms with well appointed bathrooms. Friendly staff. Personalised service. My go to hotel when I travel to RSA.

The park was amazing, the safari trips were incredible, the people were so friendly and the food was delicious.
The only con was the steep stairs to get up to our room with only a handrail on one side and we’re 69! So be sure to ask if you have stairs to climb to get to your room!

So wonderful! Peaceful! Such beautiful surrounding gardens, gorgeous pool! I loved everyone of staff. Their restaurant has the BEST chefs! We stepped out of our spacious, modern, beautifully decorated room after a free shuttle ride whose driver met us inside the airport! A comfortable 15 minute ride from the airport!
After unpacking and stepping out of our room seeing the romantically lit pool we see an open fire in the fireplace outdoors. Had a pre dinner cocktail then stepped into the small patio candle-lit restaurant for the best five course dinner I can remember! Then a comfortable nights sleep and of course an included chef prepared hot breakfast by the pool, under the palm trees. They even let us stay until 7:30 for our 10 pm US bound flight! Astounding! We will for sure come back! You would be crazy NOT to stay here! It seemed so convenient to the airport and yet in a serene beautiful rural like setting!

This is the finest hotel I have ever stayed at. The Presidential Suite was extremely reasonable in price compared to a comparable hotel in the US. The staff is absolutely fantastic. The Nova Bistro restaurant in the hotel serves fantastic food and huge portions at a reasonable price. The cocktail prices are extremely fair. I highly recommend The Houghton Hotel for your next stay in Johannesburg.
