I booked a hotel room through the Expedia website and paid for one night. I checked in, but I didn't stay in the room for more than five minutes because it was disgusting. There was hair everywhere and trash piled up behind the beds, as if the room hadn't been cleaned in months. I immediately went to the front desk, handed the keys to the concierge, and left. I requested a cancellation and a refund, but he told me he couldn't process it because a third party was involved.

My stay at the Kimpton Arras was amazing! I travel with my cat and this was our 4th time at this particular Kimpton - upon check-in, the front desk upgraded us to a suite! It was so comfortable and I love the view of downtown Asheville from the extra large bathroom! The bed is soooo soft - I must find out where the mattress and sheets are from! I especially love the hotel lobby at nighttime because that’s when it gets really active, starting with wine hour. I could also freely let my cat walk on a leash/harness around the lobby (looking out for dogs, of course!) without anyone saying a word. Everyone at the hotel is so helpful (esp. Jaime) and thanks to them, I was able to enjoy several great meals at wonderful local restaurants in the area. I always look forward to staying here and cannot wait for our next trip there!

The house was very clean and had all the amenities you find in better hotels (coffee, creamer, shampoo etc, hairdryer, towels, washer and dryer, everything needed in the kitchen, extra blankets, games, dvd's, toys for children, the list goes on!) Very spacious with three bedrooms. Master bathroom was beautiful. Dining in the spacious kitchen with another table in the living room for additional dining or playing games or just watching out the large windows drinking coffee. Secluded but close to everything you need (shopping, restaurants etc.and easy access to main highways. The host was very helpful as we had a few questions and she provided all the information we needed. She answered the phone right away there was no waiting or numerous buttons you had to push to actually speak with a live person. All in all we had a wonderful trip and staying in this home made our trip perfect. We absolutely loved it. We enjoyed sitting on the front porch visiting and having coffee and just relaxing. I can't say enough about the comfort of staying in this home over a hotel. Loved it!

If you want to have a lakeview, call Capital Properties. The lakeview cabins are all Time Shares. However, all pictures of the property on VRBO or on Expedia and even on the actual website all lead one to believe you are getting a lakeview condo. It did not indicate to call them before booking to inquire about a lakefront condo . The write-up did not how views of the specific condo, showing the outside in the woods. . We were not the only one. Our neighbor believed the same thing, hence real disappointment. We would not have booked there if it was not a lakefront property. As compensation for out disappointment, they waived the pet fee. Nonetheless, the condo was very nice, well appointed. The other resort amenities, especially the 9 hole golf course and the lake and boat rental were really nice. The location was near to restaurants in Cashiers and a grocery store. Highlands was 30 minutes away. The weather was heaven (last week in June). Capital Properties' staff was friendly and helpful, except for above.

This visit was our first after being recommended by friends. Our accommodations were wonderful and the property is so quiet and peaceful! The Silo Cookhouse was the absolute best part of our visit, from the amazing food to the wonderful service we received. We definitely recommend this place for a serene getaway!
