"Very convienient and economic"
School staffs were excellent, great location to downtown, convienient parking in this busy city. Room was very clean. The washroom and bathroom facility were brend new, but somehow the design probably focused on the security for students, the door was closed all the way up, no venting inside. So when we using it, it was really hot inside. Otherwise, for the price you pay for was excellent.

"A Pleasing place"
Great location and overall not a bad stay. The location is a bit far if you want to go to the Harbour front but close to the bridge to go to Dartmouth and super close to the hospital. However if you either taxi or rented a car it is only an 8 minute drive to the Harbour front and that is something I would do as there is so much to see there. Lots of shopping an excellent restaurants. You can rent bikes or segways which is nice as well or take in the ferry. If you want to cross the bridge you are only a 5 minute drive away. The best pizza place we found was around the corner called Freeman's. It was definitely like New York pizza and the staff very friendly there and reasonably priced. The hotel itself I would say average. It is clean however we found that we stayed for 4 days and we only put on the first day not to have service to clean as we got in late the evening before and the rest of the time we were there we had to clean our room and it never was cleaned. So I had to call for towels and some toilet paper which I think at some point in our stay that we would have had one day where it would have been serviced. We ate one night in the hotel later on and we had a super nice gentleman that was very attentive and quite helpful with our drink and food selections. However he is the only one that we had any interaction with so I gave the Hotel Staff a 4. All in all it was a good stay and the location you can't beat. Would stay there again.

The Lord Nelson Hotel & Suites

1515 South Park Street, Halifax - Map
The hotel lobby is beautiful, feels like you are walking back in history! Staff are welcoming, but not overly friendly. Rooms are comfortable and very clean, recently renovated. I only had two concerns, I think the overnight parking charge is excessive especially since the rooms are not cheap. Also, one night my daughter joined me in the lobby bar for a drink and she lost her phone somewhere that evening. The next day we retraced our steps and asked the front desk and the bar and not only did we get quickly dismissed ("no nothing here"), no one even offered to help us look. We felt no one actually cared about us and just wanted us gone. So although the hotel is charming and in a truly great location I'd say the staff could be much more helpful and friendly. "Great hotel close to waterfront, restaurants and a"
Everything was wonderful, staff, breakfast, location .......only complaint is that we had a suite with a pull out sofa bed. The mattress was horrible, you could feel the springs when you laid down. Our son & his family were also at the hotel and their kids slept on the sofa bed and same thing very uncomfortable. So our suggestion would be maybe to replace existing mattress with new ones.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
