Happy with this hotel

I was hesitant on booking this hotel because it was an Amercinn Inn and I'm not familiar with this brand. I read the reviews on Hotels.com and took the chance as I was limited on budget. My room was large and clean and found it comfortable. I was very happy with this choice and would stay there again.

The location just outside of Duluth is convenient and located close enough to get where you need within 15 minutes. The pet friendliness is great and they provide baggies and an outdoor space to hangout and walk your dog. The carpet needs a thorough cleaning in the hallways, but the rooms are very clean.

Facility is in an excellent view location and connected to a convention center. The hotel itself is older. Due to it being pet friendly the carpet wear and cleanliness shows. Rooms were clean and beds comfortable. Morning breakfast was well done.

It was relatively clean and the bed was comfortable but it was by no means a $200 a night hotel. It has “Duluth South” in it’s name but it’s really in Proctor which is a bit of a drive from lots of places in Duluth proper.

Clean comfy rooms and nice pool area.

Very nice and clean rooms. The beds were also quite comfortable. The only thing that was a little disappointing was that there was no rollaway bed available for our 5th family member and so we had to make a spot on the floor with pillows and blankets. The desk worker was not the most friendly we’ve ever had but she was able to accommodate our request for extra items for our son’s floor bed. The restaurant connected to the hotel was also very delicious- moderately priced at between $18-$25 per person. The pool area was nice and the hot tub and sauna were also nice additions.

I am towing a boat so it was nice to see ample parking areas. The hotel restaurant was a nice environment and had a good dinner. Views of Lake Superior as you come down I 35 toward the property.

Quiet, but TV was to side of bed, making for awkward viewing. Also, this is a no-frills hotel so the body wash was in thumb size bottles, no bars of soap. We had just the two bottles for washing hands and showering. We were there for four nights and when we asked for another bottle, we got one. We had to ask for a second one, and finally just bought a bottle at a nearby Walgreens. The towels were thin and small. The breakfasts, however, were buffet and very good. A nice selection of hot and cold options -- that allowed us to eat based on our blood sugar levels (we are both diabetic). It's just south of Duluth but we had no problem getting in our car and getting wherever we wanted to in about 10-15 minutes, even though it's road construction season!

Enjoyed our stay and will come again. The large suite was very restful. Our only difficulty was that our many of our electronics did not work in outdated outlets. We found that many electrical plugs fell out or would not go in. The charging stations did not work with our newer I-pads and phone chargers.

Nice place, funky smell.

Pretty good place to stay. Short staffed. Lobby was nice and smelled okay. Room appeared mostly clean except for mold in bathroom corners. Smelled of mold and dog despite appearance of cleanliness. It’s nice when motels allow dogs but should only be for hard surface floors.when dogs have itching under their tails they drag their bum across the carpet. Also if the place charges extra for a pet in the room, I believe that money shouldbe applied to carpet cleaning after the pet checks out. It’s possible that the other mold funk smell could be addressed by caulking between the bathroom floor and the tub.
