We met 30 or so family members for an older generation birthday and this place catered to all ages. Santo provided great service at check in and got us an upstairs room with two double beds a trundle and a day bed that could have slept 5. The room was very clean, the choices of restaurants was decent, the beach bar served amazing and fresh coconut and pineapple drinks. The bartender there, Juan from Boca Chica, had a great manner (and smile) and made virgin versions of fun drinks for the kids including an amazing mud slide they all loved. The local vendor next door (JC Peny - no relation to the US Store) held a cute shop with negotiable prices and I scored a massage from Yoselin for a song - and she was strong. We got some cute dresses and bracelets for souvenirs in the shop. We settled on the Mexican restaurant in the resort every night because the manager knew my family was hard to please and agreed to get us anything from any kitchen in his location so we didn't have to jump around for each family member - that's the amazing service I like. Great place that is very affordable for a large family of 5 to 50. The only thing is that the rooms are VERY far apart unless planned as a group and the property from highway to beach is so far they use little trains/trams to move folks around. Too far to walk quickly.

Exceptional, engaging, warm and immaculately groomed staff, clean, well appointed rooms and bathroom. Amazing grounds, serene beach, lazy river, great food and entertainment. Classy employees and a classy demographic of guests while we were there as well.

Based on the reviews I read I expected the Iberostar Grand to be an excellent hotel. It certainly met those expectations. Every resort has its strengths and weaknesses and the grand is no exception. It compares very favorably to Secrets and Excellence Resorts we have been to. It is significantly better than the standard Iberostar resort.
The staff is outstanding. Some of this is just the fact that it is Jamaica. The Jamaican people at the resorts we have been to have always been the over the top accommodating and friendly. The butler is a very nice touch.
The facilities were very nice and well cared for. The room was great and we liked it better than the rooms at other resorts. It had a lot of storage space.
The resort was only about 65% full and there was a lot of room around the pools and always a chair to be found on the beach. The pools were very nice. The grounds were beautiful and everything was very clean.
There is a large reef about 1000 yards off the beach. It was a good snorkel spot for an extra fee.
The entertainment was typical resort but a little better than other resorts. We actually went to two shows and enjoyed them.
The adjoining Iberostar resorts were nothing to write home about. Don't bother going to them.
The resort is owned in Spain so it catered somewhat to Europeans. The food was not quite as good as the other resorts I mentioned but they did have one of the best steaks ever.
