I loved staying at the Thunderbird Lodge! The workers were friendly, effective and hard working. My room was beautifully decorated, spacious and immaculate. The bed was very comfortable. I enjoyed the Cafeteria which had a great variety of food options and was open from 7 am to 8:45 pm. The banana pudding was quite delicious! The Trading Post offered beautiful Navajo made arts and crafts. My favorite thing was sitting in the shade outside of my room and listening to the breeze in the trees while doves cooed and sparrows flew in and out of their nests. It was so peaceful and enjoyable!

Got What I Expected.

First of all, the property was built over 100 years ago so I was not expecting it to be dated. No problem. The room was clean, the bed comfortable and everything was in working order. Only issue I had was that if offered like three channels on the TV. That was surprising.

Cool older motor lodge style hotel. Great location for visiting Canyon de Chelly. The room itself was OK. A little on the small side but very clean. Our beds were not very comfortable and the pillows were not good. The shampoo and condtioner were almost out and we were given one tiny bar of soap to be shared between the shower and hand sink in the bathroom, Based on other reviews maybe our expectations were too high butwe came away a little disappointed in the overall stay

It was wonderful. Just as described, but better. In Canyon De Chelly right in the Navajo Nation. All staff were friendly and courteous. We booked a wonderful 4 hr canyon tour that was amazing! Cafeteria style restaurant, but items were also made to order. Huge portions and delicious.

Very pleasant. Sure like not having to use an elevator plus Thunderbird Lodge has its own cafeteria for breakfast - they have real shelled eggs that taste good instead of many of the IHG properties serving dried out tasteless eggs. Thunderbird a more homely enviroroment.

The welcome was polite but felt rushed, as if we were expected to leave quickly after getting the information. Bathroom: The sign says it’s a historic hotel, but to be clear, it’s not remodeled. The bathtub had visible stains, likely from an old mat, making it look dirty. The toilet paper was extremely cheap, requiring excessive use. Room: The carpet was stained, and everything felt old-fashioned, though relatively clean. One positive: the fridge was large and quiet. The air conditioning was small, loud, but effective. The beds were comfortable. When I asked for a blanket, it took 35 minutes, and what I received was a worn-out towel-like fabric. Exterior: There are two large trees in the middle of the property that appear to be dead and should be removed. They don’t have a special aera for pet relief, so not great to sit outside while seeing sog pooping. The middle garden has so much potentiel to be awesome. That said, it was a quiet property, likely due to the older guests who respect the calm atmosphere. Parking was plentiful. Restaurant: As a chef, I was disappointed. The spaghetti had clearly been left too long, dried in the top. The meals looks bad and sad. The meal overall was just okay nothing memorable. They had a museum inside of the restaurant and great pictures on the wall. A pool would have been nice.
