The Meeting Street Inn is a very unique and pretty hotel. It’s close to restaurants and the market place. However it is not a quiet place. The floors squeak and the trash trucks and fire trucks go down the street with their sirens every day. The rooms are not well insulated so it is frequently noisy with constant coming and goings. The breakfast is good, the wine and cheese reception is good and the nightly cookies were good. However our very first night the power went out due to an accident involving the transformer. Apparently this has happened before but there didn’t seem to be any kind of a plan to deal with getting guests to their rooms or communicating to the guests what happened and how to handle it. Definitely room for improvement.
Charming hotel in the center of downtown. My husband and I really enjoyed the location, close to everything. Once you enter the patio/gardens it's very quiet. The bulk of the views from higher floors is of parking lots, but that can't really be helped due to the location. The staff was wonderful and very helpful. The morning breakfasts offered a combination of bagels, muffins, cereal, pancakes and coffee, among other things. There are also restaurants nearby that serve breakfast if you prefer. Unfortunately, there were a number of issues that would prevent us from returning. The ceiling in the shower was bubbled with a hole indicating a previous leak which decided to return the last day we were there. We had to attempt to shower while avoiding the water drops which were less than sanitary I imagine. There was only partial glass in the shower, no curtain or shower doors, which resulted in water splashing onto the bathroom floor soaking the bath mat. To make matters worse, none of the towels ever dried, despite our efforts to hang them. Trying to shower later in the day the towels and mat were still wet which was quite unpleasant. The cold water fixture was broken. At night we tried running the air conditioner as it was warm, but even at 65 degrees on medium cool setting the room struggled to cool off. The pillows were almost completely flat. My husband finally resorted to sleeping on the small chair pillow it was so bad. With updating would be a nice hotel.
Overall, my stay was good. The property is nice. The outdoor patio was lovely. My room was nice. The best part of the inn is the location. Since it is an old building, I did hear the people above me walking around their room. It wouldn’t have been bad, except that they were walking around in the middle of the night, which would wake me up. The people working there were very nice and helpful, except for one woman working behind the front desk. She was more interested in reading her book then helping. I have never seen anyone who has worked at a hotel or any other property do that. Hospitality, apparently, is not the best job for this woman.
They advertise a hot tub still on things but it was not heated the entire time we were there and no explanation was given as to why

Great location! Walkable to everything we wanted to do for our short stay in Charleston from a carriage ride, to the best restaurants, to shopping the market or King St. The room was charming but far from sound proof, the handles were broken so we could not open the wardrobe, and there were carpenter bees hovering outside the door when it was sunny. Nice bathroom and decent beds.
I gave 4 stars for the property, because our first room was with a view of a wall. Our next balcony room was 5 star. We would go back. Great amenities. All the staff were wonderful. Breakfast, afternoon wine and cheese and cookies and milk at 8 were our favorite. Charleston is a beautiful town. Expedia made our room switch not so efficient, but the hotel staff took care of. Thank you

The hot tub was not really a hot tub, I think they say it's heated to maybe 95 degrees, but the water felt COLD! That was disappointing as it was a key reason we chose this accommodation versus another. That said, the staff were very friendly, we were very happy with the breakfast options, and the location was absolutely perfect for us - so walkable to everything we wanted to do!

Nice hotel n breakfast. Conveniently located, good value!
Staff at the hotel were lovely and very helpful. We also loved the breakfast and afternoon wine and cheese gatherings. We met wonderful people at these gatherings where we shared stories of tours and restaurants. We enjoyed Charleston and the Meeting Street Inn, that we booked an extra day!
