Wonderful place to stay

We love Woodstock and this was out first time staying here at The Shire. The staff was very friendly, and the room was fun and clean, and oh what a view!

The staff was very helpful and welcoming. The area was very safe but had limited options to do stuff. The room itself was kind of disappointing - the windows didn’t close properly, there was mold in the PTAC unit clearly visible on the vents, and the shower didn’t drain the water efficiently resulting in standing water while showering. The light in the porch didn’t turn off at night and we had really bright light coming into the room at night. The window had a see through blind so it didn’t help keep the light out. The walls were also really thin and we could clearly hear the people next door having a conversation. The property could definitely take some repairs and upgrades.

This is a perfect family oriented spot for visiting downtown Woodstock. We stayed in one of their family suites. It was spacious and comfortable without being ostentatious. Loved the details in the outdoor space--well tended plants and flowers, as well as, fire pits and Adirondack chairs to hang out by the river.

Get away to Vermont

Nice get away spit in the country. Very clean and bed was comfortable. Fire pits were lite each night to sit out and enjoy. Short walk into town for shopping and eating. A market across the road was very convenient.

Great location but uncomfortable room

The property location is spectacular, right on the river. The staff are kind, professional and friendly. The property itself, however is dated, at least our room was (401). The fridge was so loud, we had to unplug it. The AC from the hallway, which was on the other side of our room's wall, was on all day and night, and was also intermittently very loud. The AC in the room was also loud. If you are sensitive to sound, this room will not be very comfortable and there are no blackout curtains, so if you slept poorly due to the noise, you then wake up with the sun. The room had a view of the parking lot, and with all things combined, I don't think it was worth $300 something a night. Great location and staff, though.

Overall we had a comfortable quiet night in a clean room with a good bed and clean bathroom. HOWEVER , we booked a room with river views and found ourselves with views of parking lots. Also the room could use a microwave. And the shower floor was dangerously slippery.

Beautiful pet friendly place in the heart of Woodstock Village. Scenery is lovely, soothing and plenty to do. Can walk to things, bike or hike.
