Good room

Room was clean and had everything that you’d expect to find - kettle, hairdryer, teas, coffee, shower gel Staff were very helpful and friendly Being above a busy pub, it was a bit noisy but that’s to be expected

Big Foot staying in the Borrowers room

Late checking in and last time I used the hotel they must have spoilt me with a room and en-suite. This time it was just a bed in a room - 2 flights up and all other doors numbered. So ended up going down to a empty bar to use the toilet. Only upon checking out and i querried the bathroom situation was i informed the numbered room opposite had my bathroom.

Had a lovely stay here. Really friendly helpful staff. Lovely room, clean, quiet, huge comfy bed, great shower and complimentary coffee! Everything you need. Would definitely recommend

Beware single room's bathroom NOT ensuite

Accommodation is OK in town centre, although parking can be difficult nearby, but most unpleasant aspect was NOT having an ensuite bathroom for the single room, only a supposedly sole use bathroom across the communal hallway which was sadly NOT locked on arrival ... this should have been highlighted in the room advertisement and it is also misleading that the hotel website states that all rooms are ensuite, which is false.

It’s a pub, clean enough, everything worked, generous with tea and biscuits, good position about 10 minute walk from rail station, three from bus and express service bus stops outside. No fridge, microwave, safe etc but it’s a budget stop. Biggest drawback basically no internet, I ate out to pick up my messages etc at local cafes.
Catch bus to national botanic garden for a full day out
Merlin is said to have come from the area
Bijou castle don’t get too excited

A good base for a basic weekend break in South Wales. For the price of breakfast, more options could be available for self-serve and staff need to remember what was ordered outside the standard

Weekend stay

We had a good stay. ▪︎Bed was very comfortable, clean and big with lovely fluffy pillows ▪︎good coffee and tea facility in the room ▪︎Nice large fluffy towels ▪︎ friendly housemaids ▪︎very central ▪︎warm room Only downsides were ▪︎it was very noisy at the front with drop offs and pick ups right outside although there was double glazing on the windows besides the original windows and there was a fan in the room so this definitely helped ▪︎ The bar was very expensive so we only had 2 drinks the whole weekend there ▪︎ only1 coat hanger on the clothes rail Overall i would mark it 8/10 and would stay here again.

The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The room was quite small but functional. My mistake was misunderstanding what 'Private Bathroom' meant. It means not attached to the room, but across the corridor which was inconvenient but that was my fault. Parking is an issue with the only parking being a small Pay and Display car park around the corner (free from 6pm - 8am) or on the street (same deal). My evening meal was incredible! I enjoy my food but couldn't finish it. I didn't have breakfast as I was still full, but it didn't start until 9am and I need to be away.

Comfortable room, convenient, but very loud!

Convenient location but without parking. Entrance to room in busiest part of pub not ideal. Loud music until very late that we could hear in the room. Room itself large and spacious and clean. Comfortable bed and pillows. Every convenience thought of. Average condition of furniture and decor.

The property was nicely decorated, well organised and clean. We were very impressed with the quality of food offerings, especially the evening meals. Slight inconvenience having to put a ticket on the car at 8am in the morning but it was quite close. Staff were helpful and pleasant.
