Let me start out by saying I don’t only post negative reviews. I post positive ones just as equally. With that said, we did not love this resort. The food choices on the buffets were lacking in comparison to other all inclusive resorts we’ve stayed at in the past couple years. The service at the non-buffets were extremely poor when it comes to refills, smiles and speed of service. The food was much better at those, yet my family walked out after waiting 45 minutes for a dessert that never arrived in an almost empty restaurant. The amenities closed so early that my grown teen boys were upset that there was nothing to do after 7pm. The rec room with pool tables, outdoor shuffleboard items, etc were all closed by 7pm daily. The shows got booked up early so we never even got to see one & the dinner reservations also booked up early so we only scored ONE the entire week we were there. And that’s only bc it was the 4th of July so the hotel hosted a large outdoor buffet, leaving us the opportunity to get a reservation at Hacienda Sisal. Now, when it comes to Hacienda Sisal, everything was 150%. The service, the food, the smiles on the servers faces. It was amazing. But every other place on the property seemed annoyed to serve us. And this is coming from a Mexican American who speaks fluent Spanish. So it has nothing to do with not understanding, etc. I think there is a ton of room for improvement and do not plan on ever returning.

The Royal Sands was a beautiful clean resort. The grounds were well maintained and the rooms were spacious and very clean. Staff was very friendly but I feel like the check in process wasn’t the best. We were not given good directions on how to find our room( another employee noticed we seemed lost and assisted us to our room) , wasn’t told how the resort worked- not everyone is all inclusive and not everything in included in the all inclusive package( the coffee shop). The restaurant/ food selection wasn’t the best. I’ve been to many other all inclusive resorts and this one lacked in the food area. Because of this , the Royal Sands will not be on the top of my list of resorts to visit again.

We loved our stay, the food is a bit too Americanized for our liking, when going to Mexico we expected authentic food, but the overall experience with staff and services was wonderful, my kids and I enjoyed our stay, we just left today! We didn’t get to enjoy the beach due to high tides and severe sargassum but we’ll have great memories of the resort.

I just returned from my vacation at the Royal Sands resort. The food quality was okay—neither amazing nor terrible, but edible. The shows were cheesy and disappointing, and I was particularly turned off by the mandatory changing room requirement on Saturdays. If you're considering going there during the summer months, I would advise against it. The beach was overrun with seaweed, creating a bad smell, and my family and I had to go to the sister hotel just to enjoy the beach. According to the concierge, they have been experiencing seaweed problems every summer for the past four years. However, they do have clean water in October and November. On a positive note, Si Sal Hacienda restaurant was incredible. The service was top-notch, and the quality of the food was amazing. I've had a lot of Mexican food before, and this was by far the best. The sister resort, Royal Cancun, met our needs for snorkeling and enjoying the beach. My two boys dived into the ocean and swam for hours, watching the fish in the clear water. One downside is that on Saturdays, they do not offer a free shuttle service or kayak rentals, so we had to pay out of pocket for our transportation and couldn't enjoy the boat rides. The rooms were very clean and spacious for our family of four. We loved the view from our balcony. I did not like the fact that you have to give them your actual room key every time you order something. If you are at the pool bar you have to give them your key. Then when you are done at the pool bar you have to get it back. Same thing at the restaurants. I had to wait at the restaurant to have my server come back at the end of my meal with my room key. I want to be able to just get up and go.

This property was terrible by far. The staff front desk Jaquelin was very unwelcome and rude. There was not much variety of food for those that have restricted diet (no vegan, pork, etc). The elevators broke. No activities/entertainment. Service took forever to bring drinks. Every staff member had an attitude. The bars opened at 11am and closed at 6pm, how can this be all inclusive if they close early. Also, we’ve found hair on the beds which was disgusting. Overall terrible experience and will never go back to this resort nor will recommend anyone to go.
