I lucked out somehow and got an atypically large room at the hotel, which made my stay feel a lot like any typical hotel one would find in a major city like Boston, NYC, or SF.
Beds and pillows are indeed comfortable and I slept wonderfully, which is almost never the case at any other hotel I've stayed at. I visited Boston during a heatwave, and the AC in the room and hotel were a lifesaver.
The location is great for tourists, because it located at the midpoint at of the Freedom Trail and there are tons of bars and restaurants nearby. I didn't try the food at the hotel because the prices seemed steep and there were many other options available.
The things that CitizenM could improve is 1) add ice machines to each floor 2) install refrigerators that actually refrigerate. I was a bit lukewarm on using the iPad to control the room. I preferred using the physical buttons in the room to control things.
Overall, I was pleasantly surprised with CitizenM and would definitely stay at the hotel chain for any future solo trips I may have.
