Outside area was not taken care of. Inside was very dated. Room had an intense smell and it made you feel sick to breathe. Stayed for a brief amount of time and could not handle the smell. We did not even unpack and asked to cancel our reservation because of the smell. The hotel would not allow this. Paid for absolutely nothing. Be careful in making a reservation.

A Hidden Gem in Bloomington – Truly Exceptional Stay! My stay at The Chateau in Bloomington, IL was such a wonderful surprise! From the moment I arrived, I was struck by the beauty of the building itself—elegant and timeless, with charming antiques thoughtfully placed throughout the property that added warmth and character. The service was nothing short of excellent. Every staff member I encountered was kind, professional, and attentive, which made me feel genuinely welcomed and cared for. My room was stunning—immaculately clean, beautifully decorated, and incredibly comfortable. It offered one of the most peaceful nights of sleep I’ve had in a long time. Everything about the space invited rest and relaxation, and I woke up feeling refreshed and grateful for the experience. If you’re visiting Bloomington and want a stay that combines charm, comfort, and exceptional service, I highly recommend The Chateau. It truly exceeded my expectations in every way.
