Absolutely Loved the Rhett House!

Cozy, charming with a fantastic breakfast! Our room had super comfortable bedding and ice cold AC. The delicious breakfast was even better on the old school front porch. Location is fantastic as well.

Hinson Family stay

Customer service was excellent from checking in process to dining. The only pet peeve we have is the noise above early in the morning. Other than that it was great location and stay.

Disappointed in Room

Robin and all the staff I encountered were wonderful. The property’s downtown location is very convenient, yet quiet. The sitting room, kitchen, porch, and yard were lovely, welcoming, and inviting. However, overall my stay was disappointing. I stayed in a so-called street-level room which still entailed steep stairs; had window a/c unit instead of central air and was quite damp until a dehumidifier was brought in. (Thank you, Robin, for the cheerful, can-do attitude you displayed throughout my stay!) Unfortunately, a/c unit and dehumidifier were running constantly, making sleep difficult. Upper level rooms seemed to be centrally air conditioned, resulting in lower level rooms providing poor value for money by comparison. Also, I was charged a “resort fee” without an adequate explanation, or amenities and services which would justify such a fee, unless it was intended to cover hors d’oeuvres, dessert or breakfast, which, based on reviews and the property’s marketing material, I expected to be slightly more lavish. Breakfast was good, but limited as to choices without an up-charge. Wait staff were excellent and having breakfast on the porch was a treat. Had my room not been so disappointing, this would have been a most enjoyable stay.

Someone tried to enter our room after all the service workers were gone. We blockaded the door with furniture in the room because it was late at night and we were afraid to come out of the room until the service workers arrived early in the morning. We didn’t not sleep that night out of fear. We brought it to management attention. There was no retribution for how unpleasant and unsafe we felt. It was a wasted night with no refund. Management did apologize while we explained everything over breakfast. It was totally a waste of money and worst than that it was a terrifying experience with no reimbursement for the agony.

The photos and marketing are inaccurate. Inn is very old and run down, room #1 newly remodeled was sub par compared to pics. Bathroom flooded when showering, air didn't work. "The smell of the cleaning chemicals was overpowering. We could not open the windows to air out and had to leave the bathroom fan on to help get the smell out. I day we arrived on May 7th, the staff was on point, friendly helpful. Cheese plate for happy hour, great wine selection, no apps though as stated. Cookies out, we had dessert at restaurant. Didn't see those. Breakfast was not as advertised. No silver service. Waited a while. Had coffee from Kierug and dispenser which was empty. The blueberry pancakes were really good that was it. Disappointed. Over charged for what we received by far. Wifi didn't work unless you are outside. The lemon water in the front room with coffee and ice tea was left empty with lemons in it from the day before. We asked several time for fresh water and ice. No one ever brought it. Staff at desk on the 8th was not helpful, even when asked, she left to get and never brought it. We had to go to the kitchen to get some. We were given a scan code at check out to tip the staff, and keep receiving through emails, to tip the staff. We tipped the server generously and thanked him. Front steps wet and slippery no hand rails for the older guests. Dangerous. Unfortunately we cannot give a great review and will not return.

Love Rhett House Inn

We stop here annually on our drive back to Ohio from Sarasota. If you like quaint charm, this is the place. They have nice touches like wine & cheese in late afternoon & cookies in the evening. Location is perfect! You can walk to the restaurants & shops.

The welcome cheese platter is lovely. Dessert in the evening is very yummy The French toast in the morning is the best in my entire whole life. It was melted in my mouth with tasty flavor. Beverly certainly is a great chef. The entire team from front desk to kitchen is amazingly friendly and helpful and they loaned us to bike to Spanish moss trail and the wet land … a beautiful scenery trip in the town ! The recommendation to Fish Camp restaurant is excellent because it serves the freshest seafood in town. And the horse carriage ride around the town is a must be tour. Would love to go back to visit the town and stay in this historical inn again and again
