"Great hotel - exceeded expectations!"
Free parking under shade. Warm welcome on arrival. Very friendly staff. We booked a sea view room - so glad we did as the view is stunning. Good pool and great location. It's 5 mins one way to the beach ( and great tavernas) and 5 mins the other way to the town centre and lots of great restaurants. Huge choice at breakfast. Nice contemporary room. Would definitely go back if in the area again.

"Central, comfortable hotel at reasonable price"
Stayed 2 nights at Kastro Hotel at the start of our Crete holiday. Central location with everything at close reach. Room is very comfortable and clean. The breakfast is amazingly rich for Mediterranean standards. Staff super hospitable. Nothing to complain about.

"Excellent Staff"
I stayed in this hotel for one night in May 2017, single room, bed and breakfast. The size of the room is large for what is labeled as a single, and very comfortable, as is the bathroom. Very good toiletries are provided – Shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and body lotion. The service at the hotel was impeccable, my compliments to the reception staff, restaurant staff, housekeeping and management !!. One can select a different pillow from the standard provided, which I found to be excellent. Breakfast was very varied and tasty, coffee was not good (too weak) , but I was provided with nescafe when I requested it, so this was not an issue. The only issue I had during my stay, which would perhaps cause me to book a different hotel next time, is the rather large gap between the screen separating the balcony of the room and that of the adjacent room and the wall, in effect enabling free access between the rooms. This really disturbed me, in particular as a woman travelling alone, as I had to have the curtains closed whenever I was in the room, and also could not sleep with the balcony door open for air and had to sleep with the air conditioning on which I usually try to avoid. I’m not sure what the reason was for building the screens this way (they are not interconnecting rooms), and I imagine it must incur additional air conditioning costs for the hotel too if there are others not leaving their balcony door open due to this reason.

We were provided with a pool view as requested and emailed the hotel before we arrived who ensured that a taxi was there to meet us at the airport. The staff were very friendly and happy to answer any questions we had. Our room was quite close to reception and the bar area and as such we did get quite a bit of noise throughout the night - even in the really early hours with people clattering and talking down the hallway. Luckily we took earplugs! The hotel is in a great location with close access to the beach and there are many restaurants and bars along the strip as well as shops and places to book trips. As some have noted, the maid service can be quite inconsistent - sometimes they will provide you with sheets and blankets to make your own bed, sometimes they will do it for you, single sheets one day, double another, not empty the bins or not visit at all. It did not imapact our enjoyment of the holiday however but needs improvement. Overall we enjoyed our stay and the hotel receptionists were excellent. Hotel Axos is in a good location that allowed us to explore Crete both East and west.

"Roof terrace that overlooks the old town"
Big rooms with a lot of character. The staff were great and very helpful with anything I needed. Everything in the old town is within walking distance from the hotel. The location is at the end of the old town in Rethymno, which means that it's not too noisy and you can get a good night's sleep! I would definitely recommend this place.

Amari is calling — find the perfect hotel

Everyone wants to score a deal on travel, but price is just one factor to consider when booking an unforgettable hotel. Whether you’re visiting family, attending a conference or taking a well-earned vacation in Amari, having an awesome experience should be a no-brainer.

Hotwire will hook you up! From restful nights near your flight to that prime spot in the city’s heart, we’ve done our research to bring the best options to your fingertips. Book your Amari hotel with us now and start your next adventure.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
