Friday night we stayed at a Holiday Inn in Effingham. It badly needed renovations and a deep scrub. This Holiday Inn in Alton/ Godfrey is fresh, lovely rooms and hospitable! Congratulations for setting the bar!!

Front desk staff were friendly and professional. Breakfast layout was great. Facilities new and generally clean. BUT we went two nights of our stay without our room being serviced and the TV systems are not intuitive at all. Worst I have experienced. Just to get to a Channel, any channel, was perplexing. Ice machine on 3rd floor remained out of service our entire 4-day stay. Needed extra luggage valet in room. Front desk said they do not have extras.

Great Hotel - Close and Comfy

This was a really nice hotel - you could tell it was very newly opened. There were some details that were not complete, but they did not impact our stay at all. Close to everything, friendly front desk attendant, and comfortable pillows - which isn’t always the case!

I like how the staff especially Dani the receptionist made our stay pleasant. Easy check in, adding points to my account, clear explanation of the amenities. The hotel is super clean, the guy who is cleaning the ground was a great in his dealing with each inch of the ground. Highly recommended for a quiet stay.

My visit and stay was due to a major surgery my daughter in law was undergoing. The front desk clerk, Paige, was extremely empatic. The front desk clerk, Chris, was very helpful in providing the items I needed and helping me extend my stay one more day. Annette, the breakfast lady, was very friendly, always eager to help with food selections. I found her a joy to converse with. I would recommend this hotel to any one traveling. Although they did not have a pool, there were several families with younger children. The room was very well stocked with all the necessary items, plus many extras. The beds and pillows were very comfortable, the room was clean and welcoming when I arrived. I loved that there was a walkin shower instead of tub/shower combo. In this area of Alton, I would absolutely send my friends and spread good words about this hotel. As a mater of fact, I already have. 5 out of or 10 out of 10 however you want to score it!

We had two queen beds and a pullout couch. We were a family of 5 and it was great. Breakfast was good. My only complaint was pool was closed and no bacon.. lol.. its cause I love it.. but they had eggs, sausages, pancakes, beagles, bread, yogurt, cereal, and cinnamon rolls.

We had to wait for the person at the desk to help someone on the phone search for a hotel in St. Charles area. Normally, businesses assist customers that are in person and have already paid rather than assisting someone one the phone to go to a different business.

The place is new and pretty clean. The pool is not available yet which was a disappointment to the kids. Also the breakfast was very limited. The caulking in our bathroom was rough and looks like it was rushed.
