The is place was nothing like the pictures. It was a disgrace. As a woman traveling alone I did not feel safe so left. The lady on reception was nice but that’s the only upside. Avoid at all costs. They would not refund my money
Very quirky 600 year old thatched building. We had a large room for 3 of us and a lovely big bathroom with a huge shower cubicle and a bath. The bed was very comfortanle and we slept well even though the building is on a busy road. If you only like 5* hotels, this is not for you! There was ample parking.
It was all Okay, just average which is what your paying for here, it was clean and comfortable nothing needed to be complained about, if this is your budget, then it perfectly fine for the money
Convenient for us to visit my Mum; good location, parking & room. Good breakfast. All at a reasonable price for the area.

Ok for a cheapie one night
My check in experience was rather unusual. After pressing 2 doorbells for attention I was greeted by a young woman who looked like she was wearing pyjamas! Walking through the door my room looked amazing. However, on closer inspection it was very mediocre. Door to the shower room looked grubby with dust on the ledges with dirty marks around the handle. There were dirty brown marks on the shower curtain and the mats around the toilet and in front of the basin didn’t look fresh/washed. The liquid soaps provided were equivalent to coloured water. The internet system felt complicated and I never was able to get logged on. You could call a number for help but I didn’t feel this was ok to do at 10.30pm at night.
Breakfast: it was like Fawlty Towers! You had to pre-order breakfast at check-in and also choose your time. There were no spoons for cereal, the cereal dispenser didn’t work and the kettle didn’t turn off once it reached boiling point. One of the guests went to used it and almost scalded their hand. There was only one person doing breakfast and although I had requested breakfast for 8.30am, I wasn’t greeted and only acknowledged some time after some other guests had been served, so it was lucky that I wasn’t in a hurry to get away. Two full breakfasts were served to guests who hadn’t ordered them and were promptly taken away then magically two breakfasts were served to a couple who sat down long after me. Aah, I see, the two unwanted breakfasts were given to them!
Unfortunately i found the room uncomfortable, the bed was hard and the pillows rubbish. Shower was tepid dispite running the water.Breakfast was cold and concealed. There is a mountain of old mattresses round the back waiting for widelife to move in, also reminants of old sinks . Rubbish everywhere. I did not feel welcome on arriving.
We booked this for 2 nights because it was close to Oxford and had laundry - this place is well... very rustic - low ceilings steep narrow stairs to a room with super tippy floors - not at all what we thought we have booked - Expedia advertised laundry in room - there wasn't - large beds, small beds ! Tippy floors set off my vertigo so bad - breakfast was fine - they are trying but it's not at all what we needed - we only stayed one night Expedia refused to reimburse us even tho the place didn't have what we booked and needed - I don't recommend it even tho the wee girl working there was super sweet and trying very hard - rustic/tacky/uncomfortable
The place is very dated and not particularly clean, although this could be forgiven were it not for the terrible customer service. We are still waiting for the refund for cancelled nights or any acknowledgement that it will be processed weeks after the fact. Expedia have been useless too, all round disaster of a trip. I would not recommend this hotel and I will not be using Expedia again.
