Nova Inn is in a very convenient location, just outside the downtown core; taking less than 30 minutes to walk to the old town. The Inn is not luxurious, but is spacious and clean. There is only one restaurant in the hotel, but there are other restaurants nearby, within a few minutes walk. The only con I can think of is the portable air conditioner provided in the room, which was so loud that we had to turn it off during the night.

This was my 2nd visit to Yellowknife. The Nova Inn staff and facilities completely redeemed my opinion of the city. My first stay at one of the downtown competitors was horrible. I was pleasantly suprised when I arrived very late and was checked into a large, clean and well appointed room for lodging. Definitely recommended.

Choose the staff wisely

You may get one of the nicest and helpful staff, while you may also get staffs who just do not want you in the premise so they don’t need to work. If you could chose, go for the younger (or newer) staff who are more motivated to do their job and not refusing to find out what they are supposed to do

Please get your staffs trained up properly

There are few things this hotel needs to improve on and the staff behaviour will be the top priority. Some of them are helpful and knowledgeable enough to know what their role is, some are seriously lacking on understanding what their role is. Some of staffs, especially those at the front office and security team, are not at all interested in serving customers; they are only interested for you to go away and not “bother” them. Nor they are keen on finding out what their job should be.
