My stay at the Villas at Hatteras Landing was a complete disaster. Our ferry from Cedar Island to Ocracoke was delayed, causing us to miss our check-in deadline of 8 pm. When we finally arrived at the hotel after 8 pm, we discovered that the check-in office was closed and a note on the door instructed us to call the after-hours number. However, this was not the case. When I called the number, no one answered. I navigated through the automated prompts and was on hold for an hour, unable to speak to anyone to check in. Even the emergency prompt went unanswered. This situation was particularly challenging for my 89-year-old mother-in-law, who was traveling with me. We had to hastily find another hotel to stay in due to the inconvenience caused by the hotel’s check-in process. To prevent similar issues in the future, I kindly request that you revise your confirmation email. Please ensure that the statement “Please check in between 8 am and 8 pm or call between these times to make alternate arrangements” is prominently displayed at the very top of the email.

We will stay there again.

Kitchen, pet-friendly

Accommodations: Double beds are small and in a small room. Bathrooms are very cramped and desperately need updating, especially the ceilings and hardware. The air conditioner blows directly on the beds, so we had to put a chair in front of it to redirect the air. The beds are comfortable enough. Amenities: The pool is small but worked fine for us. The hot tub did not work. There is only one canopy area (FCFS) even though they provide some umbrellas. The pool area could definitely use updating. The pool bar was nice yet expensive ($17 for a small margarita). The server was amazing. She was such a delight! LOVED being able to walk right out to the beach from the pool area. Lunch and dinner food was delicious yet expensive. Coffee bar is simply a regular coffee maker that constantly has to be tended to and is expected to be done by the front desk. Very inconvenient. We had to make coffee each morning; front desk was busy with guests. Definitely needs a commercial coffee bar for guests. Only basic powder creamer and sugar. Check-In: the attendant was making repairs somewhere else in the building, and I had to wait 15 minutes to check in. The next day, the line for check-in was wrapped around the desk. The lobby is extremely small and NEEDS updating and expansion. While we were sitting in the beach area drinking coffee, maintenance was pressure washing the area behind us and without even asking us to move began working right behind us blowing water everywhere. Not okay. We moved.
