We stayed here for one night and really enjoyed it. The hotel was very clean, with a beautiful entrance that made a great first impression. Our room was spotless, and the bed was soft with equally soft pillows—just how I like them. My husband prefers a firmer mattress, but he still slept well. A nice surprise was the heated bathroom floors, which added an extra touch of comfort. We had a corner room with a balcony and a nice view, which made the stay even better. The staff were fantastic—friendly, helpful, and made both check-in and checkout quick and easy. The hotel isn’t right in the middle of the main tourist spots, so expect a 5–10 minute walk to most attractions. But it’s tucked away in a quieter area, which we appreciated since it wasn’t too busy or noisy. Overall, a great stay with thoughtful touches and excellent service.

No AC in rooms

Great hotel, great staff however it does not have air conditioning in the rooms and we stayed on a fairly hot day - fans and open windows didnt cool the room down enough for my kids to sleep comfortably. Appreciate very much all of their eco initiatives, however no AC made for a less comfortable stay.

The hotel lobby and grounds are stunning. But I don't think I would stay here again. There is no air conditioning and though the windows and fans provided adequate ventilation for temps in the low 20s the road noise made it difficult for me to sleep and to relax after a long day.

Our room was a suite (with balcony), and it was the nicest suite I have ever stayed at besides Toledo (Spain) and the most prestigious hotel suite in San Francisco, CA. It was 2.5 blocks easy walk to the Harbor and the Empress where we had high tea reservations. The staff (immigrants from Philippines and Wales) were highly professional, helpful, efficient, and wonderful! The large kitchen was fully equipped, including a washer and dryer (summer amazing), and I was most impressed with the recycling bin with 4 types of recycling options. Hotel also had the first composting bin I have ever seen, which we happily used… Most impressive and environmentally friendly! Only negative was the traffic noise from idiots with loud mufflers: closing windows eliminated the noise. Loved all the window blinds that kept room dark so I could sleep in, after a long days travel. In sum, this was one of the best suites I have ever stayed at. Very highly recommended!

Room safe issues

The hotel advertises safe in the room. The safe in our room when we checked in had been torn from the wall and was just sitting on a wire rack. When we asked to move to a room with a secure safe we were told all walls were the same - dry walls - and the risk of this happening was the same in all rooms. Indeed, the duty manager visited a couple of other rooms and the same thing had happened - the safes in those rooms had been loosely attached to the wire shelf. Absolutely no security for your belongings with this arrangement. The duty manager did her best to help and gave us a refund for the first of our seven nights but at the end of the day this is how the safe works in this hotel. I’d having a secure safe in the room is important to you, check this out first.
