Staff lovely. No A/c and smells like cigarettes. Suite had old few dishes. No big glasses. Shower squealed like crazy. Sheets were hot and itchy not nice at all. Hideaway bed was springy and lopsided. Layout was terrible. Our third person on the hideaway had to walk through the main bedroom to use the washroom. Staff were very friendly. The owner Needs to cough up some upgrade cash!!!! Won’t stay again until upgrades we Made .

The Royal Scot is located in an excellent location for easy access to the harbour and many tourist attractions but being one block back offers quiet and privacy. Check in was easy, the rooms are dated but are very clean and in good shape. The stay was nice and quiet except one night the pool was filled with a group of 30 parents and their young children. You might think about putting some foam or something on the ceiling or walls to absorb some noise. The echo in the pool area is very loud. Not the fault of anyone as they were just having fun. The attached restaurant was closed, which was not told to us which made a difference for our breakfasts and I think should have made the price of the suite cheaper as the rooms are not cheap and the restaurant was one of the considerations for booking. I was also not told that parking outside in their hotel parking spaces would be an extra $22 a day. We rented a small Nissan Sentra and the parking spaces were so tight it was hard to open the doors to get in and out of the vehicle when parked. If I had a complaint it would be the parking. I understand space is premium in this location. Overall I would recommend the Royal Scot as a good choice to stay in Victoria if you like to wander the harbour and have walking access to many restaurants, shops, tours and attractions. The pool and hot tub are clean and in good condition, always had lots of towels. There were other rooms in the basement for pool, shuffleboard, and reading.

Very walkable to many interesting attractions. (Fisherman’s wharf, Museum, The Empress Hotel, Parliament building, shopping). A very quiet location that was one to three block distance from a variety of eating places. We were able to walk to the pickup locations for the attractions further away. (Malahat, & Bochart Gardens). The connecting restaurant to the Royal Scot was closed for renovation. The hotel was quaint and not fancy, but was very clean and comfortable. It had a small kitchen that was adequate that we used mostly for the mornings. We felt the price was reasonable for a vacation type location. Even though we didn’t use often, the Uber offerings were reasonable and very prompt at getting to our location. There were 3 of us (women) and we never felt unsafe at this location. Not a complaint, but no matter where you stay and unless you taxi or Uber, be prepared to walk up, down and around.

Great location : walking distance to all downtown attractions. We have stayed at the Royal Scot numerous times and the room decor is the same as when we first stayed there in 2000.

This was a great stay. Convenient location just a short walk to some great resturants, Beacon hill park, fishermans wharf, blackball ferry, and a local grocery store. Also got a free upgrade when i checked in with an amazing suite! Only reason I didnt give it 5 stars is because Im an arachnophobic and had a spider in the bedroom after first night there. Long story short I couldnt confirm/questioned if maintenece had killed it so I spent my stay sleeping on the living room couch (which luckily was in a seperate room) & was still compfy. Overall cleanliness was good though and location is worth it. I will be staying again!

From disappointment to Elation

We did not like the first room that was assigned to us because of the hedge outside the windows. But when we asked for something higher up, we got a suite on the 4th floor for $25 extra a night and then we were very Happy. The little bottles of wine to help celebrate our 68th anniversary were a BONUS. Thank you.
