In our first room, the thermostat didn’t work and it was unbearably hot. In the bathroom there was no shower curtain, just some kind of drape.
We asked to change the room, and they gave us another one. In the new room there was no fridge, but it was okay. The bathrooms don’t provide shampoo, shower gel, or soap – only a dispenser with pump. For €2 you can get toiletries, but we brought our own. The hotel doesn’t have an iron; they only offer a steamer with a deposit. There’s no coffee in the lobby either, only for those who pay €11 for breakfast. No complimentary items in the room.
The beds are uncomfortable – mine was tilted to one side, so I kept rolling when I lay down. There is only one pillow and a narrow blanket, which doesn’t cover a bigger person properly.
In the morning, the cleaning staff shout so loudly in the corridors that it’s impossible to sleep. They clean almost until 11:00 a.m., so forget about sleeping in.
The hotel is in a quiet area with convenient transport to the center of Venice. The bus stop is 2 minutes away, and the train station is a 7-minute walk.
Next to the hotel there is a focacceria – amazing food, great coffee, wine, and spirits. It opens early and closes at 11:30 p.m. We had breakfast there for €6–7 for two people. A cappuccino is €1.70, a croissant €1.70. The focaccia sandwiches are huge, delicious, and cheap – €8.50.
