Property and room were clean / no cream and sugar for coffee/ no continental breakfast

Hotel Hartness delivered exactly the kind of refined, quietly confident hospitality my wife and I look for — especially on a birthday stay. We visited June 25–26, and the experience felt thoughtfully elevated without ever drifting into pretense. The property itself has that rare balance of architectural clarity and warmth: clean lines, beautiful natural light, and a sense of calm that feels intentional rather than manufactured. As someone who spent years at Michelin North America helping launch the Michelin Guide in the U.S., I’m attuned to the small signals of a well-run hotel — staff cadence, service pacing, environmental detail, and the ability to make a stay feel personal without being intrusive. Hartness hits those notes. Our room was immaculate, quiet, and genuinely comfortable, with the kind of finishing touches that show someone cared about the guest experience rather than just the design brief. My wife’s birthday was acknowledged with sincerity, not script — a detail that matters more than any amenity. Patterson Kitchen + Bar Dinner at Patterson Kitchen + Bar was the highlight. The kitchen cooks with confidence: balanced seasoning, clean execution, and a sense of place in the ingredients. Hotel Hartness is a property that understands modern Southern hospitality: understated luxury, genuine warmth, and a culinary program that stands on its own. For a birthday getaway, it was exactly right.

The dated rooms were not the quality I expect from Hilton. I have stayed in quite a few this summer and this one by far was the worst one. Elevators did not work properly and having to take freight elevators was not in my plans.

The room wasn't cleaned properly and the mini fridge didn't work. The staff cleaned the room but upon returning back to the room the same problem was still there. Clean under the beds. It doesn't take but a few seconds to clean under a platform bed

I can only say that everything was perfect and downtown was only 15 minutes away
