A comfortable and homely stay in a very restful and characterful setting. Great breakfasts. Lovely aspens in the well tended garden. Would stay there just for a great getaway to peace and quiet.

Back to the Bidwell House!

First off, this is an historic resort, and it is not air conditioned. Our room had a tower fan that ran continually and as soon as it cooled down at night, we got the windows open. Second, this is not a resort for small children, as there isn’t really much for them to do - no pool, no playground. However it is an excellent place for adults to use as a base of operations for exploring in the area. Great breakfast, a wonderful main lodge and patio, as well as a porch swing out front. As a historic building be prepared to see the age, in some creaky boards in the walkways, and a bit of a struggle to get the windows open or closed. But it’s all so worth it! We will certainly be back.

We stayed 2 night mid week in the suite- two bedrooms. It was a large space and we enjoyed the comfortable beds. The shared areas were delightful- tables and cushion chairs to relax in , as well as more ares inside the house. Breakfast is from 8:30-9:30, so you can sleep in and go down to a breakfast that is made for once you arrive. Delicious and the coffee was nice and bold!

Nice, comfortable B&B inn. We spent three nights at Bidwell House. My wife enjoyed our breakfasts more than I did. Our host, Eva, was informative and helpful with suggestions about what to do in the area (Lake Almenor & Mt. Lassen). Mt. Lassen was a great NP to visit - and we went to three different parts of the park on each of our three days based in Chester.

Eva and Filip are wonderful hosts. I had a weekend event and they did everything possible to accommodate all of my guests. The rooms are comfy and decorated tastefully. Breakfast is delicious and served by Eva. They also have The Red Onion restaurant on the Peninsula. Wonderful food also.

The house and grounds are beautiful--a historic inn, family run. We enjoyed passing the afternoon sitting under the old apple tree. We only wish so many people hadn't stayed away from because of the fire in the area. The town and the inn deserved more guests.

Wish our stay had been better!

For what I paid, it certainly wasn't as nice as I thought it would be. It was $527 for two nights. Our room was very dark and not much lighting. I realize it is a very old historical building, but they need to update some maintenance and repair. The window sill in our room was broken. It looked like there was some type of dowel to hold the window up. I tried to do that and the heavy window sill came down hard on my thumb! I'm glad my daughter was nearby to lift the window off of my hand! I mentioned it to someone in the office. My nail bed is sore and still black and blue. The best thing about our stay was the view of the backyard. The breakfast was also delightful and the girls who served us were very conscientious and sweet.

This is a traditional BnB in a homey setting on green and pleasant grounds. The building is an old hotel with a rear two story wing of rooms. Our room, the Rose Room , was airy and spacious. The breakfast was served either inside or outside on patio tables. It was cooked to perfection. I highly recommend Bidwell House.
