I enjoyed my stay. The staff was friendly and helpful. I researched Gunn House with the help of AI and was fascinated by the history of this 175 year old building. The room was clean. All the Furnishings in my room were antique and I would love to have taken all of it with me. The layout of the hotel is a little confusing. I had a difficult time finding my room at first. If your physically challenged by high steps and steep staircases you may want to choose another Hotel. The breakfast was excellent.

I don’t write negative reviews often. And this isn’t to slam the property just an FYI, and do better kind of review… first, the guy who checked me in was falling asleep as he checked me in… this was about 4pm. Second, sheets were clean? But had hairs all over them… third, towels were not visibly clean, after seeing the bed I cautiously approached the towels… there were little hairs in them. I can handle hair… but then I opened up one of the bath towels and it had brown streaks in it… I did not mention to staff because I figured “new” towels would probably be same condition… like I said do better. Historic and dirty are two different things.

Stayed here overnight to go to an Ironstone Winery concert in Murphys. Clean, comfy, and very nostalgic of the gold rush era. Cute rooms with AC that works okay-ish. Nice pool! Super lovely staff that runs this historic landmark hotel, which is conveniently located within short walking distance to nice eateries and restaurants, as well as adorable shops in Sonora

Quaint hotel

This is a historic hotel in the heart of downtown Sonora. The decor is quirky but overall charming. Our air conditioner worked well until it started making screeching noise during the night. The breakfast is impressive with homemade cakes and a frittata and the coffee is good. Also the usual breakfast stuff like the waffle maker.

Great place for Yosemite trip

Historic hotel. We stayed for our Yosemite trip. Great location with a nice town and plenty of restaurants close by. The staff gave exceptional service. Awesome breakfast. Highly recommend.
