"Very nice hotel with amazing staff"
Very nice Hotel, not too far from the airport. The staff were very welcoming and understanding to our every needs. The restaurant has a good number mouth watering dishes, my favorite was the "Mixed Platter". What I really liked about this hotel was the fact that you could get all the excellent hotel facilities and services as compared to some of the popular hotels in Accra but without the busy nature. The hotel was always calm with guest quietly moving around especially around the swimming pool which is an idea depth for all to enjoy. I will definitely recommend this hotel to you if you are planing to book your summer holidays.

"Dated hotel in good location, lacking in service"
The location is nice (right by the beach which is public (i.e. accessible to local people from outside the hotel as well but that's no bother) and rather nice). The rooms vary from good (esp. beach facing newer chalets) over mediocre (other units with the - unfortunately - only too typical Ghanaian quality-in-detail issues (e.g. our shower enclosure was about to topple down and didn't allow closing the door - which apparently wasn't seen as an issue by hotel management) to truly bad (some of our group stayed in truly old rooms with horrible carpet, a shared hallway and entrance with another room, and duvets that were fraying, dusty, and absolutely unacceptable for a hotel charging such prices (though the last point got corrected after complaining). All in all some members of our party had to move rooms three times in four days after complaining about the quality of the first rooms. That's typical of the overall service we received. The restaurant staff were friendly and their service okay. Cleaning staff mostly as well - apart from the room not being cleaned until after 17:30 one day!. The beach/pool staff sometimes couldn't be asked to arrange the beach chairs/loungers - which is their job. Similar experiences with the reception staff. Overall pretty disappointing service (for the price) which is unacceptable for a hotel of this size and (attempted) class.

"Perfect beachside spot "
A lovely hotel in a secluded location, with all rooms overlooking the beach and sea. The owner was incredibly helpful and friendly and the service from the staff could not be faulted. The hotel is in a quiet spot but has the hustle and bustle of Elmina on its doorstep. If you are looking for a quiet getaway then I would certainly recommend!

Planters Lodge & Spa

"Nice atmosphere, limited food, 2% charge on cards"
1. Rooms. The rooms were very spacious and clean. Bathrooms largely spacious, toilet seats are in need of changing. changed rooms due to unsightly toilet seats. the new room had the same issue. 2. Atmosphere. Serene and green. Definitely a place for all who want peace and quiet. 3. Amenities. Swimming pool was quiet and clean though the 2 feet pool needs renovation as some of the tiles have come off. The facility is billed as a lodge and spa, however, the spa had been out of service for 3 months or more. That is one of the reasons i chose Planters so i was disappointed when the spa was not available. Breakfast at the restaurant was delightful even though the options were limited. the waiters and waitresses were very friendly and attentive. The Chef could be heard screaming all the way from the kitchen and the waiters were all afraid to convey our specific requests to him. We were told by the waitress that once the kitchen closes you can't order anything. so if you're hungry at 2am be prepared for a night trip. The internet service was useable, reliable and very fast. 4. Service. Generally the services were good. There is a 2% charge out fee for using your Visa or Mastercard which was a big disappointment. When asked why the manager explained that their bank charges them a merchant fee for processing card transactions so they pass it on to guests. The manager further argued that guests should think of paying using their cards as withdrawing money from the ATM. Really?

The Beach house

"Wonderful Christmas Holiday in Ghana"
I am an American Ph.D. student in Ghana for six months to complete my field research. I booked The Beach House for my husband and I as he came to visit me from Washington, D.C. for two weeks for the Christmas Season. We had such a wonderful time at The Beach House. We stayed at The Beach House for six days. It is nestled right on the beach within a small fishing village called Ankwanda. If you like places that are unique, fun, relaxing and don't mind being off the beaten path then this place is for you. Steven, the manager and his staff are very attentive. My husband and I had a very personalized experience from beginning to end. We visited Cape Coast and Elmina Castles which are both within 25 minutes of The Beach House. We also went to Kakum National Park and did the Canopy Walk, so much fun! Steven even arranged a guided tour for us for the Elmina Fish market and we were able to go out on a boat and sail through the bay. The food cooked by Sammie at The Beach House was amazing!!! My husband and I loved the Tilapia and had it almost every night! I would highly recommend anyone to stay at The Beach House. Just keep in mind it is nice but very basic rooms with hot water, Wifi, and AC. You can walk right onto the beach and the views are beautiful!!! We definitely plan to stay here again when in Ghana and recommend to others as well.

"Best hotel in elmina "
The staff were very friendly. The room was lovely and spacious with a very comfortable bed. The surrounding area was very peaceful with a lovely outdoor area to go for nice long walks. We had fun watching the crocodiles in the crocodile pond. The buffet breakfast was also incredible. It was all round a lovely experience and I would definitely recommend it.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
