What a lovely hotel with a ton of character! Located at the end of the 'beach strip', it was nice and quiet, with an amazing view of the town, the beach and the coastline. Our room was comfortable, and our view from the balcony was 10 out of 10. There was a mini-fridge in the room stocked with water, but for some reason, guests are not allowed to store their own food or drinks inside (penalty is 5 euros/day) - we found this strange? The staff were super friendly and helpful. Buffet breakfast was really good - and the eating area had floor to ceiling windows with views of the beach. The pool was nice, warm and clean. Great location, just a 10-minute walk to shopping and restaurants. On Monday morning, there is an open market in the city center that was a lot of fun to visit! Staying at Scalea was definitely one of the highlights of our Italy trip - it was beautiful, quiet, and resort-like. We really enjoyed staying at the Grand Hotel De Rose and hope to stay there again.

Great location

The location and beach access was fantastic. Room was clean but this hotel is in need of an update. Furniture and linens look well used. They also have an ant problem. Even though we didn’t have food in the room, we found quite a few ants.

We had an amazing stay! Checked in a little late in the afternoon and pool was closing, but they made an exception and allowed up to enjoy the pool. Drinks on the pool deck were amazing! The beach club was fabulous and food was great! We were treated like royalty! Truly impressed and will definitely visit again! Scalea has beautiful beaches and now one of our favorite spots!

Great hotel on the beach

Very nice location with a great beach club. Free parking on-site but it is very tight during busy season. Walking distance to beaches and town. Amazing views!

The private beach access is great the breakfast was great. Room was clean and bed really comfy. The downside was the Air conditioning didnt work, only the fan. We told the front desk staff twice the first night with no resolution (just checked something in the back office) the following morning we told them again. They sent someone who turned the thermostat down 2 degress but it was still not blowing cold air. We left the window closed and the fan running while gone for lunch the cleaners shut it off and opened the window to 28 degree weather which defeats the purpose of Ac. Told the check out clerk on departure to complete disinterest. Very frustrating experience and don't stay in room 215

Very beautiful property next to the sea. We were pleasantly surprised by the beauty as we we’re staying in Scalea only one night on our way to Calabria- a gem for sure. The hotel manager and staff were very kind and helpful. Beautiful beach and access to it is easy. We want to visit again for a longer time. Breakfast was great as well. They had a very nice Buffay with a lot of different options to choose from.

The view was awesome, the staff was friendly and accommodating, it had a pool and jacuzzi that was very well kept, and the beach and dining was within walking distance. I would definitely recommend this hotel in Scalea.

Pros: -very kind and helpful staff; -everything was very clean. Cons: -old structure, rooms and halls need some renovation; -food was acceptable, but not good enough for the price -LOTS of stairs, had some struggle there as we had our trolley.

Nice sea view; large and bright room; beautiful private beach and swimming pool; staff gentle and friendly. Breakfast was not at the standard of the hotel and the waiting time to be served was extremely long (approx. 45 minutes every morning)
