The location, parking and staff are great. The AC was really the main issue this time, it just did not cool the room enough. Also, the fact that there is no coffee in the room and they charge $6 for it in the lobby is annoying.

I stay at a variety of hotels and motels in the immediate vicinity due to dropping and picking up my child at a nearby college. The Leef has been my worst experience in three years coming to Eagle Rock. I was first put off by the call-center welcome kiosk. The “staff” there were friendly enough, but it felt a bit shady. Like giving your credit card to who knows what. Next, the room. It appeared clean but there were little flying gnats buzzing around — not mosquitos luckily, but still annoying. The bathroom was so tiny, it was difficult to bring toiletries into. And, the worst part? As I was getting out of the shower the (very heavy) glass door came off of the track and seemed like it was going to trap me inside. I had to lift it up and out of the way just to get out. I called to report it and was told to send photographs to a gmail address. The person on the call was kind and helpful and I opted not to have it looked at because it was late and I was leaving in the morning. The bed was comfortable enough. And it was nice to have outlets on the nightstand. Other than that, I’ll definitely not be returning. Glad it was just a one night stay.

AC was to noisy

I want to preface that my review is more of a reflection on the comfort of our stay, not the service. The staff onsite was extremely friendly and there are certainly plenty of good reasons to stay at Maingate. However, the room itself was quite a let down. The bed was very uncomfortable. The mattress was thin and worn in. The bedding itself was not very soft. Water pressure in the shower was sad. The outlets were sparse and the one closest to our bed was inconveniently right behind the mattress, did not hold plugs well (resulting in dead phones in the morning), and the faceplate was broken, slightly exposing the electrical components inside (a safety concern). Combined, these smaller issues really limited our ability to recover after long days at the park. It was not all bad. Our room and the property itself was very clean and we felt safe while there (can’t say the same about other budget properties in the area). Also, the air conditioning was fantastic, so at least we were never hot. The nightly parking fee is the lowest in the area and we never had problems finding a place to park. It’s also walking distance to the Disney parking structure, where you can grab the tram to the park. This wasn’t our first time staying here. There are rooms on the property where we didn’t have these issues. I guess it’s just a matter of luck. If we do decide to stay here again, we just have to hope we get a better room.

This hotel is lovely. It was our first time staying here and we really loved it. It's close to our son so we will definitely stay here again on our next L.A. trip!
