Terrible trip to Rome

Napoleon hotel is in a very, very, very bad part of town. The square across the street is filled with very dangerous transients, very unsafe to walk around the park area in the evenings without being approached by some very sketchy people. The cold water in the hotel does not work in the mornings. The water was scolding hot, which made it very difficult to take a shower.

No cold water.

Comfortable and nice at 1st. All was great. But the morning I work up, there was no cold water. Couldn't flush the toilet. I had to empty 20 glasses of hot water in the tank each time I wanted to flush. Hot water worked fine but was scalding so couldn't take a real shower. Had to do a wash up otherwise you'd burn yourself. Still wasn't fixed by the next morning. The staff blamed a city problem, but that doesn't make sense as the hot water was plentiful and it all comes from the same supply source. The staff waived the city taxes at check out which was appreciated but it was a pretty inconvenient stay.

Hotel reception is okay - a/c was not working properly. The room was hot when we entered - but the room was clean enough. The front office people did not seem to care enough - when we informed them, they seemed to just shrug it off saying," give it time to work." Huh - so I said ok, we'll go out to eat and when we come back and the room is still not bearable (not even cold ok), they need to take care of it. We came back and the room was bearable so did not make any fuss anymore since we were staying overnight only. But I wouldn't consider the hotel again.

Jane and the Guys at the front desk were the most hospitable and friendly people I’ve ever encountered on a vacation. Their assistance was so helpful and appreciated. The Hotel was always fully staffed, safe, and clean. The location of the hotel was convenient walking distance to all sites. Great Hotel for the money.

The property was amazing and located near the train stop which made it easy to get around. Unfortunately the homeless problem made it a little uncomfortable for my us. We got in late one night and felt threatened by some guys hanging out at the train stop stairwell cat calling and following us. It is truly a lovely property and the decor was beautiful. It is sad that the city has similar issues as other major cities.

The hotel is good. It is 15 min walk away from the Coliseum and 10 min away from Roma Termini Train Station. The surrounding areas are a bit scary, a lot of homeless people. If you walk in the day, it is okay, but I would not walk at night. Good value for money
