I stayed at Serenade Punta Cana from July 23–26 for my girlfriend’s birthday, and it was a huge disappointment. Upon arrival, my Uber driver demanded an extra $10 tip. Despite tipping generously, the resort staff let the driver into the resort to confront me, making me feel unsafe and pressured. Shockingly, both the driver and staff refused to let me check in until I paid more.
Our room wasn’t ready, so we went to the buffet, which was average. Once ready, staff made us wait unnecessarily for a shuttle, not telling us we could walk since we had no luggage. Room keys were low quality, and no one explained the towel card system, wasting more of our time.
At the bars, we were skipped repeatedly in favor of Spanish-speaking guests. The beach was overcrowded with aggressive vendors, and the water was nothing like the clear photos online. Worst of all, we learned all restaurants required reservations, which we weren’t told. By the time we found out how to book, nothing was available for our entire stay. Staff did nothing to help, even though most restaurants were half-empty at dinner.
Only after offering a tip upfront were we finally seated. Despite celebrating a birthday, the resort made no effort to acknowledge it, while other guests had banners and surprises. Staff seemed disinterested unless you spoke Spanish.
This resort is disorganized, unwelcoming, and unfair. I strongly urge management to issue a refund.
