Know before you go: "special design" superior room is neither superior nor special in any generally accepted meaning of the words. What Anker means by special is that your room is an interior room, with no windows to the outside and no ventilation system. Yes, that is correct. While there is "glass" to let light in, it emanates from the ground floor common areas...the windows to which are opened in the morning to let delicious fresh air in... but not for you. You are enclosed in a fishbowl with cheap floor fans for "air circulation". I was so taken aback by the stuffiness of the room upon arrival, i immediately called down for a tutorial on how to get the air con working, since there were no windows. What followed was an almost comical exchange regarding the status of the room and a furious internet search to see where I had missed the fine print that warned me that I would be sleeping in little more than a pod you would find in an airport overseas. I hadnt missed a thing...there was no such disclosure. When you come abroad, you can't expect a/c everywhere...that's not how it works. But you should expect that you can open a bloody window. And I hesitate to mention it, but I feel I must...no ventilation system means no ventilation...even in the bathroom. Enjoy the stew, people. If you are planning a visit to the land of fresh air and sunshine...Switzerland...I suggest you either spring for a balcony room or stay somewhere else. We couldn't wait to leave. We were duped.

The reception staff were very helpful, and the hotel has a good location, close to the station and amazing views. It looks a bit tired and the room we had was small and cluttered with a really tiny bathroom. Room cleaning was to a good standard. Breakfast selection is very limited. Wengen itself is a lovely place to stay and we enjoyed our time there.
