The Mayan Princess was one of the most beautiful resorts I have ever stayed at. The beach was so clean and calm. The pictures of the beach do not do this place any justice because is more beautiful in person. The staff was friendly and helpful. The A la carta restaurants were a 10 out of 10 with a good selection of sea food. The drinks were ok maybe a 6 out of 10 (if you like cocktails). The place was very relaxing and not over crowded. The beach is not private and there are vendors but they were very respectful when told no. The resort and the island felt very safe when I did excursions. The San Simon premium level was very nice and relaxing. I will definitely will be going back to this resort. They had entertainment 2 out of the 6 nights I was there and the shows were amazing. I Stayed at one of the Villas and it was very big and cleaned every day. They also provided water free of charge for us.

Stayed at Kimpton Roatan with 4 families, hoping for one of the best hotels on the island. The villas are nice but need upgrades ,broken shower faucet, slow water dispenser, patio door that wouldn't shut properly. I could live with that, it's Honduras. The real problem is service. Worst customer service I've seen in 30+ countries I've visited. We got locked out of our patio and called the front desk multiple times for help, no one ever came. A friend happened to have a wrench and we opened it ourselves. Booked a "safer, faster" round trip shuttle into town for 20 people. On the way back, the shuttle never showed. I messaged the hotel on WhatsApp repeatedly with no response, while we waited an hour in town with kids. Luckily I'd saved a driver's number and called him directly. When I asked the hotel why they went silent, they just said the driver didn't answer them, no explanation for why nobody told us. Expedia confirmed breakfast was included and even asked me to rate it after. At checkout we were charged $800+ for breakfast, told our package didn't include it. Breakfast itself was fine except the egg station, which had a slow, unmotivated staff that seemed to stall so you'd give up. This was the worst part for us. Check in took about an hour. I paid extra for an oceanview room and got a first floor room mostly blocked by trees, no alternative offered. Roatan is beautiful, but this hotel doesn't meet IHG standards. Wouldn't stay here again
