"Wonderful view hotel overlooking Lake Biwa"
Beautiful location, and excellent facilities with sweeping view of Lake Biwa. Restaurants in the hotel had 'package' all-inclusive dinner options or buffets, which was contrary to our habits. The breakfast buffet was very complete and a good choice.

"Nice spa, very Japanese experience."
Clearly more used to Japanese guests, this hotel does some things well and others less so. We stayed for one night to use the onsen (Japanese baths) and see the Otsu firework festival. The building is clean and well-maintained although the decor is dated. a few staff spoke English, most did not. When we checked-in we were taken through procedures by our traditionally dressed host who showed us our room and prepared tea. The room has a low table in the middle which was moved when we were out to make room for the bedding (futons). The baths were very clean and well stocked with product and the family enjoyed the onsen experience. We had booked a set traditional dinner and breakfast. Unfortunately none of the servers spoke any English, the at-table grills/stew flames took forever to cook anything and we never managed to get a glass of water. Tofu for breakfast was not to our taste but that is not the hotel's fault.

"Hotel has a nice view in day and night"
All was fine, but I am wondering why this hotel in such a level has to open swimming pool only for 2 months in a year (12 months). The weather is warm and pleasant in Shiga in September, but swimming pool close by the end of August!!! It sounds conservative and disappointing seeing a hotel with such a level cannot be flexible.

"Good value for money"
Good cheap accomodation. Excellent value for money with breakfast included. Only 15 mins by train to Kyoto. One drawback is the restaurant is too small for the number of guests the hotel can accomodate so get in early for breakfast if you want to avoid the queues.

"I forgot what a nice hotel felt like "
I came to this hotel with low expectations and was blown away by how beautiful and clean it was. I came in late, but the staff were quite helpful. Parking was easy and convenient too. Breakfast was amazing. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. I'll be staying here again.

"Nice place to stay"
It is located in a very quite and nice residential areas, where you only need to walk about 15 mins to see the biggest lake in Japan. It is very homey and you can get whatever you want for a very Japanese way of daily life. Staffs are very friendly and helpful. Lots of detailed information and maps about the surroundings are provided. If you want to experience real Japanese and a quite and historical getaway, I would recommend this place.

Otsu is calling — find the perfect hotel

Everyone wants to score a deal on travel, but price is just one factor to consider when booking an unforgettable hotel. Whether you’re visiting family, attending a conference or taking a well-earned vacation in Otsu, having an awesome experience should be a no-brainer.

Hotwire will hook you up! From restful nights near your flight to that prime spot in the city’s heart, we’ve done our research to bring the best options to your fingertips. Book your Otsu hotel with us now and start your next adventure.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
