My family and I stayed at Onyado in kyoto for one night. We had stayed in the osaka location prior and had a pleasant stay overall. This location was a much bigger and busier hotel and a little less clean (the tatami mats in the room were a bit more aged and little more dirty in some spots). otherwise the hallways and common spaces were clean. we appreciated being able to check into our room an hour early as it was ready and also enjoyed the breakfast buffet and onsen. the onsen was spacious and had several different bath options. The location was also central to kyoto station and the kyoto tower. Easy to catch a cab from to/from this location as well. Overall I would recommend this hotel for families or anyone looking to have a onsen and comfortable and central stay (to the station) while visiting kyoto.

A beautiful hotel with onsen (bath), located a few minutes walk from the train station and just minutes from the River. Lovely amenities include the use of the onsen (which we did daily), free ramen noodles (9-11 pm) and free icecream bar. Breakfast is included at a very reasonable price (about $16 PP) and the food selection is enormous and varied. Only negative is that the room is very small, but I booked the family room, with one queen and two double beds and it was perfect for the 3 of us. Everything was very clean, and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay here again next time, and for a longer stay! Thank you for a lovely respite!

The onsen experience is amazing! We were so relaxed each evening after the baths and massage chairs! My daughter was in heaven with nightly ice cream! Nothing at the big chain hotels we are used to in the states comes close! The rooms are smaller than we are used to but the value and experience far exceeds traditional western standards. Stay here if you want to feel welcomed and relaxed during your stay!

This was supposed to be a luxurious five-star experience, but it fell far short of expectations. The rooms and bedding were outdated and worn, and the front desk staff came across as arrogant and unhelpful. Out of all the hotels I stayed at during my nine-day trip to Japan, this was by far the most expensive—and the worst. This is the first time I’ve ever felt compelled to leave a negative review.

We stayed for 3 nights, the hotel has an amazing first impression which is very Japanese. The bed was the most comfortable one we slept on during our whole trip in Japan and the room was a good size and really quiet. Breakfast was a highlight for us, we loved the choices and also the amount of Japanese options to try. Also the free ice lollies and Raman in the evening were fantastic. The onsen on site was also a great experience, very clean ans a great variety of baths. Overall we loved our stay here and would recommend to anyone to stay here. Being so close to Kyoto station was also a great benefit.

Both service and location were great! The onsite onsen is a huge benefit. Massage chairs, free ice cream, soba, and drinks made it even better. The only draw back, if it really is one is that you have to remove your shoes when entering the hotel. The hotel has tatami mat floors and I can totally understand why they would want you to remove your footwear prior to entering. I would stay here again. Highly recommend!

We stayed here for the first part of our trip and so glad we did! We got in late so the late night ramen was great. The breakfast every morning is worth it, especially if you have plans so you can start your day with a full stomach. Our favorite part tho are the onsens! There are 5, plus a sauna and individual washing areas stocked with toiletries like shampoo and conditioner. They don’t allow tattoos, so get cover ups if you have them. You can get ice cream after! After 20k+ steps a day, the onsens before bed are amazing and we started each day feeling refreshed! You take your shoes off and place them in lockers at the front. We were worried it would smell vaguely of feet, but you get over it lol it’s super close to the train station and lots of tours meet up there. They also do luggage forwarding, worth it!! Overall, for the amenities and location, you really can’t beat this value!!

easy to get to from Kyoto train station and near bus stops. Staff was friendly and welcoming. Breakfast buffet was great and totally worth it. Onsen was great to wind down after a busy day of walking and sweating. Love that you leave your shoes in lockers next to the lobby and walk around in socks. They also provide clothes you can sleep or walk around the facility in and they have all unlimited matcha tea lattes and are delicious! Highly recommend.

Great location for exploring Kyoto. Look for the underground tunnel from the subway that gets you within minutes of the hotel before having to go outside. Lockers for shoes as you enter. Everyone wondering about in their room clothes. Cheap laundry facilities, free roman from 9-11pm. Room was fine expect for dirty floor covering. Quiet. Staff wonderful. Would recommend
