As very seasoned travelers (65F & 64M) who have stayed in places all across the country, my husband & I failed to do our due diligence in reading reviews for this hotel. Many of the poor reviews are very similar to our experience. We booked this room 2 months in advance of a trip from Michigan to Virginia to see our granddaughter’s high school graduation. We traveled home from New York through Canada (5+ hour drive) to arrive at the hotel. While checking in, we were advised that the on-site bar/restaurant was NOT open (one of the main reasons we chose this hotel). No reason why from desk clerk (and the hotel website showed that it WAS open) We then had to get back into our car and drive to another restaurant. When we arrived back to the hotel, we went to use the hot tub (also part of the reason for booking this hotel) and found that it was “Closed for renovations”. In the morning, we got up early to take advantage of the “complimentary hot breakfast” only to find that (per staff in the restaurant), the cook did not show up so NO breakfast available. At check out, we asked about a refund of some type for all of the above reasons, but were told to go through Expedia. We did this, were told by Expedia that our request was denied. No reason given to them as to “why” and several voicemail’s left for the hotel management have gone unanswered. READ REVIEWS AND ACT ACCORDINGLY!!!!

Where do I start? The front desk employee was complaining about not being able to take her kids to see fireworks, but then admitted a fellow employee picked up her shift so they could. We were permitted 2, and only 2, bath towels. Similarly, we were permitted 4 extremely small pillows, and only 4. The pool was dominated by children. There were vehicles coming and going all night. The property is beat up. We will never stay here again.

Manger apologized for the overall condition of hotel. He has reported it to higher management and nothing is being done to rectify the problems

The room was not kept up. The physical appearance was ok. There was section of the door that was damaged. It was not up to my expectations. The pictures on line made it look nicer than it was

The room itself was fine. Everything appeared clean. However the bathroom had a strong urine smell. I wiped the toilet seat with a disinfectant wipe but the smell was inside the bowl. The shower curtain smelled like mildew. The pool was nice and we enjoyed the continental breakfast. I am unsure if I would stay again because of the smelly bathroom.

You charged a way too high deposit and turned me away on a room that I paid for that you charged me. I didn’t have the 100-150. I was in an unsafe environment and I came there for shelter and safety and I paid like everyone else has. It was a bank holiday and you all did not even have any kind of empathy. I had to sleep in my car in 90 degree weather in a bad area. Smug front desk worker even. Nice of you. Half star rating.
