We have stayed at this hotel several times a year for the past four years. We choose this hotel because of the 24 hour shuttle service. This service has definitely gone downhill. Upon arrival, we waited an hour for the shuttle which is advertised as picking up at the airport every 30 minutes. We chalked it up to being lunchtime. The following day, I needed to go to the airport to meet my daughter, a minor who was flying into Newark unaccompanied. Knowing the shuttle was scheduled to go to the airport every 30 minutes, departing the hotel a quarter past and a quarter to the hour, at 8pm I asked the front desk to confirm that there would be an 8:45pm shuttle. They assured me there would be. At the appropriate time I went to wait for the shuttle. It did not arrive nor was it displayed on the shuttle tracking app. Once again, I asked the same person at the front desk on the status and was informed that the driver was on break! And the next shuttle would not go for an hour! I was then told to go across the street to The Embassy Hotel and use their shuttle as theirs was leaving in 15 minutes. No apology, nothing. I did use the shuttle at The Embassy, and gave the driver a generous tip. And where will I be staying when I return to Newark next week? You guessed it, The Embassy!

Misleading ad! we were deceived!

We booked and paid online, but upon check-in, we were unexpectedly asked to provide a $250 deposit — something we’ve never encountered before. Typically, deposits are only $100 in our experience. Additionally, we felt misled by the listing, which advertised that the property had a pool. There was even a photo of it. However, when we asked the front desk, we were told outright that there was no pool, with no explanation provided. We chose this hotel specifically to celebrate my daughter’s birthday, as she wanted to go swimming. Because of the misleading advertisement, we had to leave and check into another hotel with a pool instead. It was a frustrating and disappointing experience — a complete waste of money. To make matters worse, the bathroom in our room was not functioning properly. We requested to be moved to another room, but instead of accommodating our request, they simply sent maintenance staff. This was highly inconvenient for us. Although the issue was temporarily resolved, the bathroom began acting up again shortly afterward. Overall, the experience did not meet expectations, and we will not be returning.

Would have been the ideal place to stay if the amenities offered lived up to the expectations. Be very mindful of what the past reviewers have commonly said. Room itself was sufficient for the needs of my aunt and I for four days. Deep divots in both mattresses, and air almost didnt work properly the last night there, though. The view facing the port was scenic; the airport noise was mostly bearable. Bathroom situation was awkward. There was no fan and only one hook in the bathroom itself. At least we didn't have an issue of hot water; the door did creak weirdly, nonetheless. Breakfast was somewhat disappointing. The food itself was fine, but the staff was slow to restock. If you expected to have any of the hot or bread items before closing, you were most likely out of luck. Lastly, the shuttle transportation was a disaster. We were relying on this aspect the most. With no sign up procedure, the van avoided leaving the hotel area at night for pickup at the airport. We weren't the only ones to have this issue, and my aunt had the phone unanswered when she called the first night we waited beyond the 30 minute timeframe. She was livid when we had the same issue on the third night. Even the other hotel shuttle drivers know that this is an ongoing issue. Convenience to the outlet mall was very nice, but the available restaurants in the area were lackluster except for the IHOP next door.
