Pros: The building, room and common areas are all clean and well-kept. Using the app made for easy in and out access with room and building key right from your phone. It is a staffed hotel and staff is very friendly, pleasant, courteous and helpful. There are laundry machines in every other floor, large trash and recycling cans in every other floor. I stayed in a studio and had everything I need in my room: stove, full fridge, dishes, cookware, utensils, mugs, glasses, full size coffee maker, full size kettle, enough towels, sponge and dishwashing liquid, handsoap, comfortable sheets, furniture. Cons: Construction happening almost all around the building during my stay and work starts around 7:15 am on weekdays. The only day they did not do construction is on Sundays. GPS kept making me go in circles because of all of the detours/ closed road surrounding the building. There is no free parking on the property. There is a lot there but, it is only for staff and the neighboring church. You must self-pay for parking daily unless renting an apartment as opposed to a studio, but the parking garage for free parking is about a block away. I used Spot Hero to make it easy on myself. Must pay extra for a room cleaning during your stay. Walls are thin. I could hear my neighbors extra curriculars at night, which was almost nightly. This location is not in the best neighborhood, but there are police patrolling nearby.

We parked in a parking garage and another car swiped the car. We had damage on the front right side. It was my son's car! We now have to pay him for the damage My son said that it is not a safe place.

Very poor check in , it took over 90 min.

We arrived before 9:PM and found no employees. The identification verification for check in took 1.5 hours. After submitting info online to verify my identity I expected the codes to arrive in a timely manner, they did not. There was no desk clerk when we arrived so we had to wait outside (under the canopy) in a thunderstorm. We spent 25 minutes on the phone with Marriott customer service, they were finally able to get us the access codes to the building/room. There was extensive road construction near the hotel and even getting to the main door took 20 min from 1 block away. I really wish they'd have sent a notice with access instructions. This was a very frustrating evening and I feel that all of the frustration was completely avoidable. It left a bad taste in my mouth and I doubt I'll ever stay here again.

I was disappointed to stay at Sonder St. Paul. The property needs Serious Attention I rarely write reviews, but our experience at the Sonder in St. Paul warrants a warning to future guests. The property is tucked behind a couple of parking lots in a back alley—not exactly the welcoming arrival we’d hoped for. Unfortunately, things didn’t improve from there. Noise & Location - The area is undergoing major infrastructure work, with torn-up streets and sidewalks creating a constant cloud of dust. At night, the noise was relentless with car alarms, shouting, and screaming making restful sleep a challenge. Room Basics & Comfort - The room itself was simple and had the essentials. The bed and pillows were comfortable, which was a small mercy. However, amenities like soap, shampoo, and dishwashing detergent were restocked in the room before our stay. When I asked for supplies, I was told to rummage through a closet in the lobby. Cleanliness A Major Concern - This was the most disappointing aspect. Public areas were visibly dirty, and the staff seemed to have given up trying to combat the dust. But the real shock was inside the room: - Dishes and glasses had sticky lip and fingerprint marks. - Carpets were grey with embedded dust. - The shower had only a superficial wipe-down, and someone else’s hair was still stuck to the tiles. - The balcony we paid extra for was unusable—caked in grime, with dusty furniture and a broken screen door propped against the wall.
