"Makes Travel From Kyoto Easy"
The Kyoto Century Hotel is a business/tour group hotel with a great location, especially if using the rail system via JR Pass. Its not an economy/essentiels hotel but it is affordabke and a good value. From the train station, use the Karasuma exit, turn right, walk 100 yards max, almost all is under cover. The room was a pretty good size (had a 2 twin bed room), toilet room was a little small but the rest was fine. Buffet was good - it caters to an international crowd and has excellent options. Staff is very professional and polite. There are eateries in the area but most higher end restaurants are in Gion. Most eateries and shops in the area close by 10:00pm so don't expect to be much of a late night. Which brings me to the drawback on the location. The KCH is great for travelling by JR line. We did day trips to Hiroshima, Nara and Osaka easily. However, the KCH is not so great for Kyoto's tourist attractions. Walking a few kilometers in mild weather isn't bad. Walking when it's 90F+ in a humid Japanese summer can be tough. Expect to either take a taxi or use other public transportation. We used a lot of taxis to move efficiently around Kyoto. There are no laundry facilities on site or near by, leaving hand washing or using a very expensive hotel laundry service. Still, I would recommend this hotel. It's clean, comfortable and is perfect if travelling by train.

Karasuma Kyoto Hotel

"Comfortable hotel, on Karasuma subway line"
This hotel was easy to get to once you find your way from Kyoto station to the subway lines. From the subway, exit 6 gets you practically next door to it. Otherwise the Karasuma-Shijo exit is a short walk. Look for the Starbucks right next to the entrance. The room was spacious compared to what we had experienced in Tokyo but a bit on the older side. Still, exceptionally cleaned and well maintained. The keys are old school and they request you drop them off at the front desk before you head out which was not problematic. The proximity to the subway allows for efficient travel to various sights but the hotel is also within walking distance of Nishiki Market and Gion. The staff was friendly and efficient.

"Close to Kyoto station "
Close to station which makes it easy to get around as all transportation goes through there. We ate dinner there and food was good and reasonable, but the breakfast was expensive. Welcome drinks and coffee daily was a nice plus. Rooms are a little small and there are no closets which seemed odd, but maybe that is more traditional Japanese.

Hi, this hotel is well located, next to the train station, about 15 minute walk from all the main sights. My disappointment was with the staff at the reception who were not very accommodating: we arrived barely one hour prior to the official check-in time and they refused to give us our room which lead to a lenghy process to have our baggage checked etc.. other then that it's OK, beautiful beer garden in the roof (but it closes at 9h00 pm, like most things in this city).

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
