"Very convenient and roomy"
Being a first time visit to Matsuyama, my first priority was location. Approx 10-15 min walk down the main street from JR Matsuyama station or short tram ride (160 Yen). Had a nice room overlooking the park with a great view of Matsuyama castle in the distance. Most impressive feature for a Japanese hotel is plenty of floor space for placing luggage. Experiencing Dogo onsen is a must (don't just take photo's from outside). The ropelift to Matsuyama castle is convenient though only a short ride. Trams are easy to ride and most places are walkable. Day passes for around 400 yen are good value as it is very convenient to catch trams around the city. There is a tasty izakaya style restaurant nearby called Kippei, featuring various bbq skewer items. Just ask for omakase (chef's selection). 10 skewers (or more) per person provides a sufficient meal. English is limited however the staff are very friendly and helpful.

"Very friendly and helpful"
The hotel was within easy walking distance of the tram station at Dogo Onsen. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming, as were many people around Matsuyama. We had chosen a Japanese style room, which was large and comfortable, resulting in a very good night's sleep. Little Things, such as the tea on arrival and late night snacks left in your room were a nice touch. The hotel Onsen was quiet, well kept and very relaxing. The following morning, breakfast was great. Plenty of food and drinks brought to your table, including a surprisingly good and very creamy scrambled eggs in an omelet. There are a few cosmetic improvements that could be made, but overall the hotel is very comfortable and good value, when compared to other onsen hotels. The location is good, the food good and it's very friendly. I would and will definitely return.

"Spaceful room with good deal"
Location is a little far from JR Matsuyama , and only 1 local tram will have the nearest stop. So I didn't take the tram back to hotel, but rather walk for 15-20mins, straight road with one corner, so it's all fine to me. Matsuyama is a small city, so its location does not really matter to me. Despite the location, room facilities are all good, there is a local supermarket at the back side of hotel, which I like very much. I will stay again if I have next visit.

"Great hotel located very close to Dogo Onsen"
If you want to experience the Dogo Onsen, you will find this hotel to be in very close proximity. You can wear the hotel's yukata and walk over to the Onsen. We also had a very nice Japanese style breakfast. We wandered through the shopping arcade that begins right outside the hotel and was able to catch the cable car to visit the beautiful Matsuyama Castle.

"Nice, big rooms and centrally located. Good value."
Big room, very good location not too far from the base of the Matsuyama castle ropeway. Right next to the Okaido streetcar station, which is about 10 minutes from the JR station and an easy walk to the bus station from the airport.

"Midway between JR station and Castle"
I selected this hotel because of its location on the map being halfway between the JR station and my intended site to see, Matsuyama Castle. The staff spoke enough English to make checkin quick and the room was clean, surprisingly large for a business hotel and offered a fantastic view of the castle across the way. The hotel is in front of the streetcar station heading to the castle and down the street from the one heading to the JR station. The walk (if you don't opt for the streetcar) to the Matsuyama Chairlifts used to get to the castle was about 20 minutes although not a straight line path. While the hotel does offer its own restaurants, other options are a ten minute walk away towards the shopping arcade.

Matsuyama is calling — find the perfect hotel

Everyone wants to score a deal on travel, but price is just one factor to consider when booking an unforgettable hotel. Whether you’re visiting family, attending a conference or taking a well-earned vacation in Matsuyama, having an awesome experience should be a no-brainer.

Hotwire will hook you up! From restful nights near your flight to that prime spot in the city’s heart, we’ve done our research to bring the best options to your fingertips. Book your Matsuyama hotel with us now and start your next adventure.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
