"Very convenient and roomy"
Being a first time visit to Matsuyama, my first priority was location. Approx 10-15 min walk down the main street from JR Matsuyama station or short tram ride (160 Yen). Had a nice room overlooking the park with a great view of Matsuyama castle in the distance. Most impressive feature for a Japanese hotel is plenty of floor space for placing luggage. Experiencing Dogo onsen is a must (don't just take photo's from outside). The ropelift to Matsuyama castle is convenient though only a short ride. Trams are easy to ride and most places are walkable. Day passes for around 400 yen are good value as it is very convenient to catch trams around the city. There is a tasty izakaya style restaurant nearby called Kippei, featuring various bbq skewer items. Just ask for omakase (chef's selection). 10 skewers (or more) per person provides a sufficient meal. English is limited however the staff are very friendly and helpful.

"Elegance with intent "
Yes it's a love hotel, however it's fabulously well equipped has spacious immaculately clean rooms and some of the best facilities and amenities I've experienced, better than Hilton suites frankly. Well worth the stay.

"Nice hotel right across Okaido Street"
I took a bus from the airport and it stopped at the front of this hotel. Okaido street was just right across the street, lots of restaurants there. The tram stops were also right in front of the hotel. Very convenient location, I must say. No need to worry about dragging your luggage and walk miles to your hotel if you are flying into Matsuyama. I stayed in a single, non-smoking room. The room was clean and comfortable. However, the pillows smelled a little stale from sweat. The bathroom was very clean. Amenities provided were complete. The staff could speak English and were very helpful. They helped me to safe keep my luggage for a few hours when I checked out. It was a pleasant stay.

"Very Nice Hotel Overlooking Dogo Onsen"
I chose Hotel Patio Dogo because of its proximity to the famous Dogo Onsen and was pleasantly surprised to see it was even closer than expected, across a narrow street that, like the surrounding area, is closed to through traffic. The area is filled with tourist attractions--not only the Onsen but a whole arcade of shops selling local products (check out the orange and bamboo-related merchandise) and a museum devoted to the poet--and father of Japanese baseball-- Masaoka Shiki. The room, though not large or luxurious, was comfortable and clean, and the bathroom was adequate for my two-night stay. There's a restaurant downstairs that serves sushi, udon at lunch and Japanese breakfast; though I only had one dinner there, it was quite good. The staff was friendly and efficient and didn't object to my having a BYOB drink with a friend in the lobby, which I appreciated. I would definitely stay there again.

"Midway between JR station and Castle"
I selected this hotel because of its location on the map being halfway between the JR station and my intended site to see, Matsuyama Castle. The staff spoke enough English to make checkin quick and the room was clean, surprisingly large for a business hotel and offered a fantastic view of the castle across the way. The hotel is in front of the streetcar station heading to the castle and down the street from the one heading to the JR station. The walk (if you don't opt for the streetcar) to the Matsuyama Chairlifts used to get to the castle was about 20 minutes although not a straight line path. While the hotel does offer its own restaurants, other options are a ten minute walk away towards the shopping arcade.

Tobe is calling — find the perfect hotel

Everyone wants to score a deal on travel, but price is just one factor to consider when booking an unforgettable hotel. Whether you’re visiting family, attending a conference or taking a well-earned vacation in Tobe, having an awesome experience should be a no-brainer.

Hotwire will hook you up! From restful nights near your flight to that prime spot in the city’s heart, we’ve done our research to bring the best options to your fingertips. Book your Tobe hotel with us now and start your next adventure.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
