"Convenient place to stay in Saijo"
The Hotel Route Inn in Saijo was a convenient place to stay and was a resonable price. We had a rental car which made it easy to find and the parking was free. The beds were hard but the rest of the hotel was nice. My daughter and I went into the Japanese bath, which was very relaxing. They provided Pyjamas and slippers as well as basic toiletries. There was a good variety at breakfast which was buffet style and very filling. The staff were very helpful but I don't think anyone spoke much English. The hotel is close to the Asahi Beer Factory, which offers free tours! Saijo is a short drive to Imabari where we started the Shimanami Kaido Bicycle ride.

"Interesting new hotel"
The front desk is on 13th floor. You keep the room key and each time to get to your room floor, you need to tap your key to a specified button in the elevator, then push your floor number. The coin laundry facility is convenient and the breakfast was great.

"Very convenient and roomy"
Being a first time visit to Matsuyama, my first priority was location. Approx 10-15 min walk down the main street from JR Matsuyama station or short tram ride (160 Yen). Had a nice room overlooking the park with a great view of Matsuyama castle in the distance. Most impressive feature for a Japanese hotel is plenty of floor space for placing luggage. Experiencing Dogo onsen is a must (don't just take photo's from outside). The ropelift to Matsuyama castle is convenient though only a short ride. Trams are easy to ride and most places are walkable. Day passes for around 400 yen are good value as it is very convenient to catch trams around the city. There is a tasty izakaya style restaurant nearby called Kippei, featuring various bbq skewer items. Just ask for omakase (chef's selection). 10 skewers (or more) per person provides a sufficient meal. English is limited however the staff are very friendly and helpful.

"Spacious upmarket hotel"
Hotel was in a quiet part of town. The room was spacious and the staff was friendly. Imabari was different to the other large urban centres we visited in Japan, such as Tokyo and Nagoya, it reminded me more of cities and regional towns in Australia; more space, less hi-rises, more car-centric. It was interesting to see a different side of urban Japan.

"New Hotel, convenient location."
We stayed 3 nights for a getaway to the Matsuyama area. Nice, clean, new, modern hotel. Fabulous bathrooms, not the pre-fab plastic units so common in many Japanese hotels. Shower was larger than mine at home! Wonderful breakfast buffet at Wine Bar on first floor.

"Very Nice Hotel Overlooking Dogo Onsen"
I chose Hotel Patio Dogo because of its proximity to the famous Dogo Onsen and was pleasantly surprised to see it was even closer than expected, across a narrow street that, like the surrounding area, is closed to through traffic. The area is filled with tourist attractions--not only the Onsen but a whole arcade of shops selling local products (check out the orange and bamboo-related merchandise) and a museum devoted to the poet--and father of Japanese baseball-- Masaoka Shiki. The room, though not large or luxurious, was comfortable and clean, and the bathroom was adequate for my two-night stay. There's a restaurant downstairs that serves sushi, udon at lunch and Japanese breakfast; though I only had one dinner there, it was quite good. The staff was friendly and efficient and didn't object to my having a BYOB drink with a friend in the lobby, which I appreciated. I would definitely stay there again.

"Very friendly and helpful"
The hotel was within easy walking distance of the tram station at Dogo Onsen. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming, as were many people around Matsuyama. We had chosen a Japanese style room, which was large and comfortable, resulting in a very good night's sleep. Little Things, such as the tea on arrival and late night snacks left in your room were a nice touch. The hotel Onsen was quiet, well kept and very relaxing. The following morning, breakfast was great. Plenty of food and drinks brought to your table, including a surprisingly good and very creamy scrambled eggs in an omelet. There are a few cosmetic improvements that could be made, but overall the hotel is very comfortable and good value, when compared to other onsen hotels. The location is good, the food good and it's very friendly. I would and will definitely return.

Saijo is calling — find the perfect hotel

Everyone wants to score a deal on travel, but price is just one factor to consider when booking an unforgettable hotel. Whether you’re visiting family, attending a conference or taking a well-earned vacation in Saijo, having an awesome experience should be a no-brainer.

Hotwire will hook you up! From restful nights near your flight to that prime spot in the city’s heart, we’ve done our research to bring the best options to your fingertips. Book your Saijo hotel with us now and start your next adventure.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
