A wonderful welcome from the reception staff was followed by a nice sized room, perfect for our 5 night stay. The bed, although a little harder than I'm used to, was very comfortable, and the room itself was quiet. We unexpectedly also had two small balconies, one of which had a view across to the basilica. My only minor criticism was the lift/elevator. Only one small lift was in operation during our stay, which was an issue for some at the hotel who had to cart luggage up and down the stairs. That said, I appreciate it's an old building so they are limited in what they can do. I can't comment on food as we didn't eat here, but being adjacent to Perrache station, the metro whisks you into the city centre and its array of eateries within minutes. All in all, a good hotel.

Very poor experience

Very poor experience, starting from the receptionist who needs to go back to his basics trainings on how to talk to a guest in hospitalityโ€ฆ no parking availableโ€ฆ lifts out of order with a room on the 5th floorโ€ฆ poor condition of the common spaces with low maintenance very disappointed with Mercure quality standards which was supposed to be 4 stars hotel and clearly does not deserve this rating

The hotel is old and we knew that going in, but it looks like a pack of wild puppies were let loose. Some paint would help the chewed up walls a lot. The employees were not very helpful. We asked quite a few times if someone could look at the tv since it would not work. Not until the last night did someone finally come up and say it doesnโ€™t work. That was it. We were stuck in the room for a couples sick and it would have been nice to have. The same with room service and a couple of other issues. Just not very attentive.

Hotel a little shabby and could do with a refresh. It's a big old building and in it's day would have been beautiful. I chose it because of it's location to a train station but found it awkward to get to. Towels weren't changed everyday and milk was not provided with the tea and coffรจe sachets i had to ask for it.

Beautiful hotel but mediocre service

This hotel has the potential of being great, but it's not. First of all, the parking is expensive and very small, and not connected to the hotel (which is problematic when it rains, for example). Second, there was only one elevator from the parking level to the hotel, and it wasn't working for 24 hours during our stay, so my handicapped father had to go up 2 floors by foot with a cane. When we asked about the repairs the front desk said they called someone "but this is France", so timing was unclear. There was only one tiny elevator going up to the rooms, and it was not sufficient for this big hotel. The rooms are large and beautiful, which an old look but new touch. When we asked for towels we were told we had to go get them ourselves (we expected someone to deliver them at a 4 star hotel, especially if only one elevator was working). Breakfast was great and varied, but staff in the dining room was not friendly and a little rude. The location is central but being so close to the train station is not amazing, even though we did feel safe all in all.
