"Stunning setting "
It was a good place for us to stay. Just a few pointers though that need addressing. The welcome was poor - the receptionist appeared to be too busy. The waiter's English was not good enough. Our room was close to the staff accommodation and it was noisy when they were coming on shift or at the end. We stayed in for dinner one night and the menu definitely needs an overhaul.

"Nice stay."
Very handy for visiting Cragside Estate and touring area . Rothbury is a small, lovely ,typical Northumbrian country town.Unfortunately the hotel was let down by issues with evening meals in the restaurant ,mainly the time waiting for the meal to be served after ordering .Also I ordered the Gnochi on different evenings & the sauce tasted different ,definitely something left out the second time. Apart from this ,a very comfortable stay.

"Nice Hotel with golf course"
We rang the day before and asked if we could arrive earlier than the check in time of 3pm so we could use the spa, and Hotel facilities. We were told we could arrive between 2-3. We felt a bit disappointed at this as we would have liked to arrive about lunch time to have some lunch at the Hotel and then use the Spa facilities and maybe book a treatment if any were available. We did enjoy using the pool, sauna and steam room, the staff were polite and appeared to enjoy their job. We found there was a lack of seating around the pool and not enough hangers for towels ect. There were people in the hot tub who had towels and robes on the seats but not using them to sit on. Not sure what the answer to this problem is apart from maybe some more seats. We found the food in the dinning room to be disappointing, although the service was excellent and staff very helpful, apart from at breakfast time a member of staff bumped into me and knocked my fresh orange juice all over myself and my clothes, she said sorry but just walked away leaving me covered in sticky orange juice !!!!!

"Fabulous and gloriously quirky-style hotel."
From the moment we arrived, we knew it would be an interesting stay. The hotel is decorated in dark but not sombre colours, with eclectic items dotted around, all adding to the atmosphere. A winding corridor and stairs led us to our 'Superior' room. Inside it was panelled and had a huge bed, carved nightstands, wardrobe, dressing table and big windows looking out onto the extraordinary garden. Whilst still painted in dark colours, it had an airy feel to it. The soft furnishings were good quality and felt luxurious. Lovely touches in the room included a personalised 'welcome' letter, a complimentary 'cocktail kit', a good selection of teas and a large bag of fresh-ground coffee (no nasty Nescafé sachets!). Through a pair of carved antique doors was the bathroom and, framed by the door, sat a huge shiny copper bath. What a sight! Whoever designed the room certainly knows how to make a statement. The bathroom also had a big wet-room style shower, pedestal basin, loo and nice touches with indulgent bath gels and shampoos. There is something quite decadent about luxuriating in a copper bath full of bubbles, whilst sipping a cocktail... my partner left me to it and caught up with six-nations rugby on large flat-screen tv in the bedroom! My only negative comment was that the lighting was quite dim - downlighters in the ceiling and vintage lamps are lovely but hopeless for trying to apply make-up. It would have been useful to have one small brighter lamp for that purpose.

"Beautiful "
Audrey was a lovely host, nothing was too much trouble. The room was clean neat and tidy and the bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was served hot and fresh, and the service was excellent. I would encourage all of my family and friends to come to orchard house and looking forward to using it again.

My wife and I have had the pleasure of staying here before so we do know the hotel. The reason we returned, and will do so again, was the experience of our first stay. The rooms are spotlessly clean and well maintained. The food is beyond comparison. Definitely to be recommended.

Hotwire will hook you up! From restful nights near your flight to that prime spot in the city’s heart, we’ve done our research to bring the best options to your fingertips. Book your Longframlington hotel with us now and start your next adventure.

You’re not the average traveler — and we know it

You’ve done your homework and know exactly where you want to go. We’re here to help with some Hotwire travel geek-approved tips on how to save on your booking.

    Get away for the weekend

Hotels in bigger cities usually charge higher rates during the week, when people are traveling for business. Weekends can be a bargain! It’s the other way around for vacation spots, so if you’re looking for a beach escape, consider a mid-week trip.

    Give yourself some wiggle room

If your plans are flexible, play around with some different travel dates – a shift of a few days either way can help you save big. Prices usually jump the weekends before and after popular holidays, so we recommend steering clear of them. Or consider visiting during the off-season, when prices are generally lower.

    Plan around big events

Are prices surprisingly high? There might be a huge conference or festival in town. Consider shifting your dates if you can. Of course, if that’s why you’re going, you’ll have to bite the bullet. We’ll still work to get you the best rates out there.

    Noodle over new adventures

Set aside time to plan what you want to see, taste and discover. Nothing completes a trip, big or small, like a few new experiences! Check city apps or area websites to find out what’s new and what events are happening during your stay. Even during a family reunion, you can detour to that locals-only fish taco stand or under-the-radar music club. Your cousins will be impressed.
