All the pillows were very old, ripped, torn, and tattered. The washroom was outdated and small, and the room itself was cramped. There were no spoons, plates, or a microwave. Overall, a terrible experience, especially given the high price.

The hotel itself was ok but the parking was very tight for larger cars.The staff were good. But at no time through the booking process was I informed that there was no elevator at the hotel and as we were put on the second floor this was very inconvenient and a problem as we had to carry our full size suitcases up two flights of stairs. Given that we aren't spring chickens this was a concern, although when i mentioned it to reception I just got a blank look. Not very impressed and wouldn't stay there again.

It was a nicely appointed, very clean and quiet room with very comfortable bed, in fact all so good that we overslept and missed breakfast! Will always stay when the need arrises, keen to see what the new rooms are like and hope there is a lift.

Beautiful old heritage building, very well maintained and nice, comfortable to stay, with all the essentials you need. Pricing is reasonable and it isn't far at all to walk into downtown Launceston. I would definitely stay here again.

Good Central Accommodation

Overall a nice place to stay in the heart of Launceston. The images of the grand old hotel on Hotels.com is of the main reception house only, most of the of the rooms are in 80/90s motel style buildings (and I picked one of the ‘deluxe’ room so was a little disappointed with that. The room was comfy however just a bit dated and basic like lighting is hospital white, there’s a microwave and things like pot noodles you can buy but no cutlery or plates or anything, there’s a bath but no bath gel etc a balcony but no chair or table … just a general lack of effort. 10am checkout on the weekend is very poor. Staff are very friendly and the pub attached is nice. I didn’t drive but seems to be plenty of parking.

We stayed at the Colonial three different times over a period of three weeks. We stayed in three different rooms. The beds and bathrooms seemed very good. The chairs and furniture were a little odd and could use some updating. It was great to have access to a laundry. The location in Launceston was perfect for us - easy walking to enjoy the town. We would stay at the Colonial again.

Only stayed for one night on our travels but it was lovely. The bed was cozy, the room clean, the receptionist was wonderful and polite. The car parks were a little bit small for travellers with luggage was our only issue. Overall though it was lovely
