€200+/night for mold, fake eggs, and hostile service? Absolutely not. I’ve stayed in 40+ hotels across Europe and North America. Carvi Hotel was one of the worst price-to-quality ratios I’ve encountered. I rarely leave reviews, but this experienced left me with no choice but to WARN other travellers. The reality doesn’t match the photos. Our room had visible mold and rust in the shower, no bathroom ventilation, and filthy AC filters. By day three we were both feeling sick and checked out early. The breakfast was inedible. Eggs bulked with filler, instant coffee pretending to be fresh, sugary water instead of juice. We both got stomach aches. At this price, it’s insulting. Service was dismissive to hostile. One staff member was great. The rest gave eye rolls for simple requests like beach towels or purchasing a drink. We felt unwelcome from start to finish. Common areas reeked of industrial cleaner — more hospital than hotel. When I tried speaking with management, I was told no one was on-site and to “contact Expedia.” We’d booked four nights but left after three. To the owner: We saved for months for this trip. Your hotel didn’t just disappoint us — it soured our impression of Portugal. At over €200/night, travellers expect clean rooms, edible food, and basic respect. You’re currently failing on all three. Wake up. This isn’t personal — it’s a fair warning to other travellers.

The hotel has beautiful views of the ocean and surrounding landscape. The breakfast is fantastic and the staff are friendly! A quick 20 min walk to the old town. A perfect stay!

We specifically picked this hotel as it advertised parking. On our very first day there we left to do laundry in our rental car and returned at 11am only to circle the parking lot for at least a half hour. If you plan on staying here don’t bring a car. The hotel is attached to a very popular public beach and nothing is available until late at night. Staff were rude when we asked if we could parking in the empty spots designated out front (see picture). On our second day we told the from desk that our shower leaked from the hand attachment and after 5 days no one came to fix it. The shower pressure was definitely an issue. They had problems with plumbing as we could hear the sink gurgle when you flushed the toilet and all they the night you could still hear this. Towel deposit for the beach was 20 euros cash and staff would not even give you an extra towel. Although the beach and walking paths are close just stay somewhere else and take the $4.50 train trolley that stops right there. Pictures make the hotel look new but it is far from that, infact there is a large derelict building with graffiti all over it next door.
Air conditioner only stays on when key is in the slot and leaks all over the deck.

The view of the beach from the rooftop pool and restaurant is amazing! Our room was adorable. Only complaint - they are strict with the towels and will not give you any extra lol.

Room was clean and comfortable. However, I was on the third floor, right below the restaurant and I could hear everything while it was open. Since 8am to after closing. I could hear all the chairs moving while they were cleaning. If you stay there try to get another floor, maybe. The place is excellent and in a great location.

Carvi Beach Hotel was a pretty good stay overall for what the property offers. The location is excellent, close to the beach and within walking distance of Point-of-Rocks. The rooms were clean and comfortable enough for the price point. That said, there are some important things to know: Strict Room Policy: Nothing is allowed to be taken to your room — not even a cup of coffee. This felt unnecessarily restrictive. Towel Policy: The hotel has a strict 3-day rule for beach/pool towel exchange. Only on the third day can you swap for fresh towels. Even if your towel is dirty, sandy, or covered in mud, you won’t get a new one until day three. I understand the eco-conscious effort, but really — even a Motel 6 would hand you a fresh towel if you asked. Breakfast: Mediocre at best. Powdered eggs, undercooked bacon, and a very limited selection. It did not compare well with the breakfasts we enjoyed elsewhere in Portugal, where the variety and quality were much higher. If you go in with the right expectations — basic accommodations, good location, but limited amenities and service policies — it’s fine. But don’t expect flexibility or a quality breakfast experience.

Close access to the beach and the spectacular cliff walks. Staff were excellent, friendly and helpful. Breakfasts might have benefited from a little more variety but food was good. Access to Lagos was quite easy whether walking or taking car.

Great location to beach and cliffs

The room was smaller than we expected , bathrooms are very small so if you want to hang in the room probably not the best place to stay. Location to the beach and Lagos cliffs was amazing Easy parking but if it were summer it definitely would be an issue. The hotel has no parking you share with public beach . It is close to the beach and great restaurants nearby.

When we initially arrived we were set up in our room category which did not have an ocean view (as booked) but as we were only there two nights, Carlos at the front desk assisted us in doing an upgrade the second night to a wonderful corner suite, with great views! Not only is this hotel incredibly well located for beach access, but having an ocean front room (albeit “side view”) was really lovely to have at the beginning and end of a long and relaxing beach day. The staff was all very friendly, and the hotel is walkable to the popular restaurant areas (20 min). Would absolutely recommend when staying in Lagos!

Amazing views

The hotel is so close to the beach and coastal walkways, a 15 minutes walk to old town but honestly worth it as the views are amazing and the beach beautiful
