From the moment you walk in, you feel welcomed. The room was great and spacious. It does get cold at night, but there is a portable heater in the room. The staff was literally a text away. I didn't want for anything. John was very pleasant and a joy to talk to. I will definitely put this on my hotels to stay at again.

The Hamakua was amazing. It was everything you could want in a boutique hotel. The grounds are beautiful and immaculately kept. The every room has an incredible view of gardens overlooking the Pacific. The staff, Belle and Sabrina were the best, If you are there for one of Chef Joseph’s meals don’t miss it!

I have stayed here multiple times and have enjoy my stay every time. Only regret is that I need to get dressed when I leave. Bummer.

Every poor review I've read on this place is excused away by the owners - so get ready for their response. I am a seasoned traveler. This is probably one of the worst places I have ever stayed. I am not sure how it gets a 9/10 on Expedia. Booked for 2 nights, but left after the 1st. Bed is old and sagging, floor is stained with dirt (even though they ask you to take your shoes off), the refrigerator didn't work. The croak noise from the invasive frog species is mind numbing at night - even with a noise machine we had. The frogs only stop if the temperature gets cold enough. The gazebo out back was dirty and not fit for use. Looked charming online, but it's a miserable place to stay.
